I was surprised too... This had been hyped alot, and several critics had said this was Russell's best performance of his career. I guess people are tired of these R Rated cop flicks. They probably see the previews, and immediately assume it's going to be like all the rest. Even "Life of David Gale" bombed, even though it managed $7 million. How in the hell did "Old School" end up grossing $17 million? Audiences are erratic with what they go see from week to week.

I saw "Dark Blue" and it was slightly disappointing. Kurt Russell's performance was good but some of the dialogue fell flat, and the story wasn't quite as gritty as it should have been. Russell was supposed to be this hard ass cop, but we never really see him do much of anything immoral... unless you count drinking: morning, noon and night, beating an Asian guy up, and spraying Master P with pepper spray. The last half hour was the best because that's when the action kicks in. The scenes where Russell's driving down the street while looters are attacking him was crazy. His end speech was good but I didn't believe he could have changed his morals that fast. Overall, worth seeing once.
