Dark Blue

I went to see this film at the weekend, and was pretty impressed with it.It's no LA Confidential, but it's fairly watchable all the same. It's only on limited release in the UK,so if you live over here I'd go and see it as soon as possible, but it is well worth your time. It's set against the backdrop of the riots in LA in the early 90s resulting from the aquittal of the four cops involved in the Rodney King beating, and stars Kurt Russell (Executive Decision) as a corrupt cop,and Ving Rhames as the Police Investigations Panalist determined to bring him down.

Has anyone else here seen it or is planning on doing so?

Sascha - I plan on seeing it ASAP. One thing that is confusing me though - is Kurt a good guy or a bad guy?

Well,as I say,he plays a corrupt cop,so bad guy. And,as I say,if you want to see it,I'd see it quickly as it's only on limited release and showing at selected cinemas.

I knida liked Dark Blue too. A lot of critics were comparing it to Training Day. I like Denzel better in Training Day but Kurt Russell did a good job playing the bad cop here too. The ending in Dark Blue was opposite of the ending in TD. It was one of Russell's best performances in recent years to say the least..It is in my dvd collection already..

Personally,I thought he overacted a little to be honest, but there you go.

I'm surprised the movie received a 15 certificate over here,to be honest. There is a scene at the beginning when two hoods enter a convienience store and callously, cold bloodedly shoot dead everyone inside in a most disturbing manner that I thought would have warranted an 18 by itself. But there was lots of other violent scenes and bad language to reaffirm by belief.:ironchief
