Kickingbird, I am discovering on this web site that is not true concerning "religion" here. That is not the feedback I am feeling being on this site anymore. I feel like an apple in with a bunch of oranges. Read from the bible and your gone. The Bible is too controversal here. (so I am learning) My time is about up. Matthew7:6 Share Gods word (bible)with people who do not want to hear it, they will turn on you.:( And will they ever!!!

Julie, I don't think anyone is picking on you...I think most of our members are christian in fact, as far as I know, anyway, or maybe they just haven't really said either way...
However, they do not happen to quote from the bible very often, that's all...
Did anyone say they didn't want to hear it?
I don't recall that to be honest, but then I do miss a lot of stuff I suppose...
Regardless, it's a touchy issue and probably one that some people would rather not discuss on such a website...
Mainly, we like to talk about Steven...:)

Julie, you seem to be a contradiction to yourself. You say everybody can have their own opinion and even disagree with you-that's life. And the same time you seem to feel frustrated about the other opinions. You seem to be obsessed at the Bible only but people have been discussing the other religious sources here.Expressing some different views. And they have a right to say that. The world doesn't revolve around one Bible only. You wanna have a controversy? You know you're welcome any time.:D And I have something to say too.But I'm gonna use a different thread for that.So stay on your toes :D

Hell yeah,Yudansha,we may have gone far off topic but it's getting a deeper,a more spiritual development. And I'm gonna have a controversy with you as well.So you better stay on your toes too.:D

Tora, That is what happens when you stay up way to late to post. I can't change that I am a sensitive person. I can not change what the Bible said. I did not write it. I believe in the Bible. If I can not quote from it, then my beliefs are not welcome and neither am I. I deleted my last post, because I should not have said it.

Julie, I believe in the Bible as you do. We cannot expect everyone else to believe as we do. You are very welcome here as we all are.....Please don't leave......hugs, kat :) :)

Come on...let's move on to the other thread I have in Dharma section. There's something to argue about.
Of course no one tells you not to believe in the Bible but you shouldn't replace God with it.In fact you sound like that the Bible inpersonates God for you-isn't that ridiculous?Well,as I said,it's time to move onto the other thread. That's called "Somati,Shambala and Origination of Mankind" but it's viewed from a spiritual point of view along with a scientifical comprehension.
Oh,and I also have a medicine for the sensitive ones too :D

This is not a hate issue. There is no anger in here.

Julie I don't see why I would "hate" you for expressing your beliefs. It just seemed interesting that you like to "respectively disagree" but you have said: "When we die and stand before God ..." What about those who do not believe in God? (as was said by Jalu in another thread) So you assume that God exists no matter what anybody believes, because you said 'WE' - when "we" die and ... Do not get me wrong, as I am a Christian (Russian Orthodox). All I did was show you the other path that many follow strongly (the 'path' being the one where there are those who refuse to listen to anything other than evolutionary concepts).

Kickingbird: "what if time and space do not really "exist""

If you're interested: According to Einstein - "time is space, and space is time"
However, in addition to such statement, Einstein has shown that 'time' itself is another dimension. Hence, the first 3 dimensions are for space, and the fourth is for time. So if you think you live in a 3 dimensional world, maybe then, time does not "exist." Oh and LOL I know you didn't mean Matrix by one of your earlier posts, I was just explaining that similar thoughts have appeared through popular motion pictures.

Lotussan: "it's a touchy issue"

Thank you, and I thought you saw an argument in every post I made. You're a good sport, and kickingbird, I liked your "outta time" sense of humour there too :=)

We're all on the same side after all, it's just a wide fence so some who are sitting on it, might be leaning just a little bit more to one side than the other.

From: the AnswerMan ... back to the question:

The consensus among scientists is that the world is around 4.6 billion years old. This estimate relies on the radioactive dating of certain rocks, combined with calculations based on astronomical phenomena (e.g. the mass and luminosity of the sun).

Of course, some people think the Earth is much, much younger, usually because of their religious beliefs or cultural traditions.

Many fundamentalist Christians believe the Earth is only 6-10,000 years old. This number is primarily deduced from what is written in the Bible, with bits and pieces of somewhat debatable scientific evidence thrown in.

In the 17th century, Bishop James Ussher and Dr. John Lightfoot, working independently, each deduced that the world began on Sunday, Oct. 23, 4004 B.C. (Lightfoot even asserted that it began at 9 a.m.) This became perhaps the most well-known "scripturally backed" date of Creation. If it were true, the world would be celebrating its 6007th birthday this year.

According to the traditional Hebrew calendar — also based on scripture — the world began on Sept. 6, 3761 B.C., giving Mother Earth a slightly younger age of 5764 (come September). Some Orthodox Jews retain this belief.

The ancient Mayan calendar pegged the Earth as being younger still. The Mayans believed the Earth was created in 3114 B.C., and thus would be turning 5117 this year.

And on the Chinese calendar, we're only in the year 4641, 4701 or 4702 (depending on your method of calculation). However, the Chinese calendar does not start with Creation — there was already something "there" before the calendar.

So feel free to believe what you want to believe, but I'll side with the scientists. It's possible — even likely — that future research will prove the 4.6 billion years to be wrong, but the trend seems to be continually pushing the beginning of the Earth back even farther.

I do not expect anyone to believe the Bible or God. Like anyone here, I will defend my beliefs because like you I believe with my whole heart that it is true. Everyone speaks this topic with passion. It is a topic that touches everyone. To me, God is all knowing. If God made man, I can not imagine him smarter than God. I am sorry I can't. I think life experiences affect how we view God. Man has free will, so when bad things happen God is the first to blame. I think bad experiences are used to make us a stronger person. Human spirit sometimes chooses to be bitter.

Methinks when all is said and done that we should be thankful we're not as old as the earth ...
