An Earth Day Message from Steven Seagal

Be an Action Hero for the Environment!

*****Click here to watch a special video message from Steven Seagal!*****

Dear Friend of Wildlife,

Being an action hero means fighting a lot of important battles.

The fight to protect the Earth is one we can't afford to lose.

If you've seen me in On Deadly Ground or Fire Down Below you know I'm not a "Johnny-Come-Lately" to the environmental movement. I re-wrote those scripts hoping I could make the world a better place and bring people's awareness about the environment to a higher level.

If you'd like to make a difference too, I invite you to celebrate Earth Day with me on Friday, April 22nd. All you need to do is one small act* for the environment right in your hometown. It could be something as simple as turning off the lights when leaving a room...recycling old newspapers and magazines...planting a tree to clean the air...or putting up a bird house.

Whatever you choose to do to celebrate Earth Day...please add one more action item to your list...make a donation to National Wildlife Federation. My friends at NWF have been working hard to protect wildlife and wild places throughout America for nearly 70 years. But, as a non-profit organization, they can't continue their good work without caring citizens like you. So, please give generously!

With a $20 gift to NWF, you'll receive 2 limited edition "Green at Heart" wristbands. Uniquely decorated with raised images of a wolf, bear, buffalo and songbird!

For $35 you'll get 10 FREE wristbands. Share them with friends and family to get the word out about protecting the environment for our children's future.

And for $100 you'll get NWF's exclusive Guardians of the Wild Gift Package.
- 10 "Green at Heart" wristbands
- A sturdy NWF backpack, and...
- Membership in NWF's elite Guardians of the Wild society, with such benefits as a members-only newsletter, special wildlife updates and more!

Thanks for caring...and thanks for supporting National Wildlife Federation.

Sincerely,

Steven Seagal

Steven says it very well!

We in the USA are among the most wasteful people in the world. We waste electricity, water, fuel ignoring the pollution and slow depletion of our resources. Turning the lights off when they are not needed seems such a small thing yet most people don't think of it. We complain about what stuff costs but waste electricity and petroleum products while we choke on the exhaust.

Thank you for making us aware of that, Kickingbird! :) I explored their site a little, but couldn't find the message from Steven or the link for the video. It seems an interesting site, though. I'll explore it more a bit later. Thanks again. :)

And thank you, Amos, for copying and pasting it here for us. :)

Sorry I can't post the video link - evidently it is part of a secure donation site for NWF, and the email I received was from NWF. I can't find Steven's video on their site either. At least we could read what he has to say!
I have always been into Steven's environmental messages, and it is heartening that he actually re-wrote the scripts to On Deadly Ground and Fire Down Below to reflect his support for the environment.
There are many things that are very simple to do to help the environment, even if one can't donate funds [like me, cuz I'm broke after paying income tax] - recycle everything, join a "free recycle" group where people give stuff away they don't want to people who want it, plant a garden even if it's in a tub on the porch, ride a bike instead of driving [unless of course you live miles and miles from work and can't take time to ride 3-4 hours there and back], use a manual push-mower instead of gas, use a hoe instead of an electric weed-eater, but most of all if one CAN afford it, support groups like NWF, Audubon, Nature Conservancy, Greenpeace, etc. Every day needs to be "earth day" because it is where we all live and we need to take of it.
Peace

I was just checking & J Lucas has a link on his web site about this video..but it's either my computer or his site that is messing up.

I'm checking some of my old posts in my group-a couple different articles :

Save The World Air, Inc. (STWA) a debt free company
welcomes the
endorsement of world renowned actor and
environmentalist Steven
Seagal. Steven is considered by many as the
quintessential martial
arts actor and has always had a very strong belief in
environmental
causes, especially in saving the worlds air from the
toxic gases
created by automobiles.

Steven Seagal joins in endorsing Save The World Air,
Inc. (STWA) as
both a shareholder and supporter of the Zero Emission
-- Fuel Saver,
(Z.E.F.S.) device. Steven can currently be seen on the
companies
brochure and video.

"I will do everything I possibly can to help promote
your company
throughout the world to my millions of fans," says
Steven Seagal.
Steven has said, "Anything that will reduce
hydrocarbons in the air
and all the horrible emissions that are so toxic to
the population of
the world, for me is a great blessing. I think that
this astounding
device is, well, as long as we are using internal
combustion engines
with gasoline, this is as far as I am concerned the
key."

California Launches Celebrity Oil Recycling Campaign

Just like Star Wars…the long awaited moment has
arrived! On June
10th, the State of California presented a statewide
oil recycling
campaign to the good people of California. A
collaboration of Earth's
911, the CIWMB, EMA and The Earth's 911 Promotions
Cooperative, this
campaign utilizes celebrity television, radio and
print ads to get
out the message to "Finish The Job" when it comes to
recycling oil.
Gordon Clapp, Mario Andretti, Steven Seagal, Bernardo
Osuna and
Mauricio Cienfuegos have all lent a hand to help get
the word out
about the importance of recycling used motor oil to
both the English
and Spanish speaking communities in California.
Through a generous
gift from Earth's 911, PSAs will be customized to meet
the needs of
each community.

It is nice he supports certains causes and will endorse! He must wear fake fur and leather! For someone to be that into he surely wouldn't wear real killed animal skin on his body! Do you think?

The current NWF video just came out for Earth Day and the link in the email takes one to a secure donation website - probably why it is difficult to follow the link.
Thanks for the info Amos :)
I have no idea if Steven wears leather or not.
Personally, I feel wearing leather is ok because the skin is already being used for that purpose. Native Americans use animal skins and are very grateful for them and use the entire animal for food/clothing, etc.; not just for trophies, etc.
Actually, if one thinks about it, everything we use for clothing, food, or to build our homes and furniture with comes from some sort of elemental life - be it vegetable, fruit, wood, or even plastic from petroleum. Our very existence in a physical body destroys millions of micro-organisms, virus, and bacteria. Walking on the earth itself, we crush insects and destroy habitats. Road kill is abundant. These are just a part of the cycle of life/death. I believe the key is controlling just how much we do harm other beings/creatures for our own sustenance. There has to be a balance, and our presence as human beings should ultimately be as unobtrusive as possible. We are, indeed, caretakers of this planet.
A humble Sufi once said that even the tiniest creatures, even the mountains, forests, rivers, the stars, and even the atoms and atoms within atoms, all worship God and have life within. All we can do is praise God for our life and treat all lives as our own.

I truly liked your words here, Kickingbird, and agree wholeheartedly, especially about these things are just a part of the cycle of life/death, but there has to be a balance. Well said, Kickingbird. :)
