Interview / Updates Keoni Waxman!

He had a role in an Adam Sandler comedy after that (but that was still last year). I think he had to pause his movie career for a bit because of some operation (you know those wrestling people are always falling apart). He's been concentrating on his Podcast and now he has a Broken Skull Challenge obstacle course show (something like a redneck version of Ninja Warrior). I wouldn't be surprised to see him return to action films soon, he had enough time to recuperate and rest.
In 2013 it was reported that Austin had signed a deal with Anchor Bay to produce two DTV films, the first was to be titled "Kill 'Em All, John" or something like that. Haven't seen anything since. His films were low budget, but enjoyable. Wrestling is a physically brutal way to make a living.

From Umar Kahn:

Today I was invited to Hollywood Media Bridge to meet with Keoni Waxman (Director) and Binh Dang (Producer) to discuss my involvement in their upcoming projects... — met Lauro Chartrand en Keoni Waxman bij Universal Studios Hollywood.

This must be for one of Steven's new projects! Binh Dang is only producing Seagal movies. Could this be something really different? I mean, Universal Studios?

If Seagal is doing an movie with Universal Studios it is an big step upwards :);)

nobody says its a Steven Seagal film. its probably some other project. universal would never do anything with Seagal nowadays.

Could be, but Dida is right, Binh Dang only does Seagal projects (1 exception this year "Legend").

We will wait and see.

Peace

If he get hooked up with Universal Studios and the right script, then he could make something new legendary amazing ;) Lets just wait and see what happens

I think Kahn probably just means the office from Hollywood Media Bridge, which is owned by Philip Goldfine as far as I know.

The only projects Seagal has going on right now is the usual boring Voltage projects. Not interested. Get him with a big studio and a big budget and then i am interested.

Just a little idea, nothing more:

Maybe we (respectively DiDa ;)) should send a mail to Waxman in a couple of weeks and write that we really like the idea of a Seagal movie filmed in Asia again and we hope this will be a highlight in Stevens filmography, with old school Seagal fight scenes, straightforward plot and good locations, and that we hope he can get a solid budget for this movie to realize some nice action. Maybe we can ask if he could tell Steven that the fans really are looking forward to this movie and hoping for something great.
Something like this…

Of course it’s always hard to film a movie in 3-4 weeks, but maybe if Waxman sees that fans support the project, he will be more motivated too (in my opinion, his latest movies feel pretty tired). And we saw in movies like UJ, PW or parts of TK, that a motivated director still can get a solid effort from Seagal.

As I said, it’s only a little idea from me, nothing more…your opinions?

Martin01 speaking of the whole idea, I see no problem with showing Mr. Waxman this. But I see the problem in the "writing". One major criticsm outside the fandom is that Seagal does always the "same movie". I know that AGAINST THE DARK + ATTACK FORCE are not a favorite of many, but for their unique settings and ideas I like them.

If at all, Seagal should produce a movie about blues. Similar to KILL SWITCH (the earlier cut), but with more emphasis on the life and the music of a blues musician. In the spirit of ON DEADLY GROUND and FIRE DOWN BELOW. Especially the latter. The spiritual idea of a blues musician movie starring Seagal without any action would be my personal 3rd dream-project.

What would be the point....The main reason for me and alot of Seagal fans is the action/fights so a Seagal film with no fighting/action would be a no from me...Also to do a film like that you need to be a strong actor and even his biggest fans would say hes not a good actor.

Seagal is a martial artist and according to his own words, he was never a good actor. But this is not the point. Have ever listened to his music?
If yes, you will be able to see that Seagal can do this. A fair comparison: Do you know Van Damme's movie JCVD? If Van Damme can make a movie which pleases the critics, than Seagal can do the same, just better.

I can understand that a non-action Seagal would be completely different, but it one unique chance to show us the fans and the world that Seagal is a lot more than meets the eye.

Next time I contact him I will keep pushing the Asian project and tell him that we will love to see this happen!

As much I am for a return to Japan (if Seagal, Waxman and Voltage can arrange a return), we should consider that where-ever a possible Asian feature is done, the budget must be higher than usual. Japan and China are very expensive to shoot. Remember that INTO THE SUN was made with Sony, one company which has world-wide relations.

South-East Asia like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia are a little bit cheaper. Tibet and Nepal are not well-seen by the Chinese communistic government.

Mongolia as the home-country of his wife Elle - that could be also be done.

I just checked for an update with Keoni Waxman. I asked him if there are some new upcoming projects between him and Steven. Specially the Asian one! Also asked him if he knows anything about Foreign and Domestic because Steven is certainly NOT filming this one right now. But he told everyone shooting should start after his concert tour. He just took a vacation and now he pops up here and there at charity events....

I hope Mr. Waxman can shine a light on this.

BIG NEWS!

I also checked producer Benjamin Sacks and he immediately replied to me about the new upsoming projects. He said:

Hi, not sure if we will be working with Mr. Seagal anytime soon.
He is working with a different group at the moment.

So it seems that Steven left Voltage Pictures and the whole Keoni Waxman team!!! I am wondering what keoni Waxman will have to say. I will keep you informed...

Thank you for the information. Even if Seagal works with a different studio now maybe there is still a chance he could work with Waxman again. Don FauntLeRoy also did that for example.
Waxman is currently in Romania making a dracula movie as far as I know.

Just because he is working with a different group does not mean that he has left Voltage and Keoni Waxman. But if that is the case thank god. We need alot more to go on!!
