Well i seen it.... wow.... I like the swort fights and the story is better then the last movie. What i dislike is the kissing thing. Oke Steven looks better now he is getting older. most charming man...I get the dvd from the USA so there where no sub titles. And than You had to concentrate on the lauguage and when Steven speaks you had to listen very good.
But a 10 for the movie.
I don`t tell how it ends... I only tell he don`t die. (Guess who?? ,The last sentence)
Love Connie

I don't like that kissing either!! But I did enjoy the movie, glad you did!
I think he looks better now than in his early movies, not the popular thought!

I'm very glad you liked it so much, Connie! :)
And I'm REALLY glad you said he doesn't die at the end. :D

Maybe it will be released soon with subtitles so you can relax and enjoy it more. :)
The sword fights sound good! I'm really looking forward to seeing this now!

P.S. Tomorrow we will move this thread in with the other reviews for Into the Sun. Craig would like them all kept in one section, which will be in the Movie Reviews sub-forum of the Movies section. :) It will be at this link: http://www.steven-seagal.net/forum/showthread.php?t=5123

Am I the only Seagal fan who wants him to go back to the real basics--- the things that he did in his early films that originally got our attention in the first place? I have every Seagal film there is in my collection, but the first ones are still my favorites. Even as popular as UNDER SEIGE was, to me that movie was a little too "hollywood". There was a good deal of martial arts in it, but if you really sit back and pay attention--- there was more of the standard "shoot em up" that just about every Hollywood Hero film has in it. Shame they forced his career into that mode-- but then again, Hollywood did that to Van Damme as well. Everytime they get a martial artist, they turn them into a Cookie Cutter Hero and take away what truly makes them great. Best line of all Seagal's films? "WHY DONT YOU COME OVER HERE AND TAKE IT M---------R" Oh yeah!!!

I feel as you do I think he should get back to the basics.

I own every Seagal movie ever made except "The Patriot". I watched "Into The Sun" two days ago.

That's it. I am not buying any more movies by Seagal. I've had it. It is a terrible, terrible movie. TERRIBLE.
There are no redeeming qualities to it. It is just as terrible as The Foreigner and Out of Reach, only with even less action.
It makes Belly of the Beast look like The Godfather.

As an actor, Seagal is dead to me. There's no decent fights in his movies, and he just depressively staggers along a horrible plot written by 12 year old mentally deficient monkeys.

Look at what Stallone did with his straight-to-video movie where he was actually PLAYING a depressed man in rehab. That movie was actually decent and interesting to watch.
Look at what Van Damme has been cranking out lately in his straight-to-video releases . "Replicant", "In Hell", "Wake for Death".
"In Hell" alone is better than all the movies Seagal has made since "Exit Wounds", put together. On modest budget, Van Damme's films manage to get quite a lot of action into them, Van Damme stays in shape, and the plots are lively and interesting to watch.

Seagal the actor is an oxymoron. Once he stopped taking himself humorously and kicking ass (Glimmer Man, Exit Wounds), he became a person of no interest, no acting talent, and no-good physical shape, releasing movies that no sane person in their right mind should buy.
Belly of the Beast, the best of his recent offerings, was still about 3 times worse than Van Damme's "Replicant".

His movies are made out of his incredible vanity which tells him that people will buy his movies just to see His Magnificence stroll about the screen. Either that, or mafia is holding a gun to his head and forcing him to act in these abominations written by a mafia boss's retarded son.

My Two Cents!

hi everyone!
Almost secretly I ordered the latest Steven Seagal Flick from Amazon.Com.
It probably won't reach France Movie Theaters before long(And at that time I will watch it in a big Room,on A real silver screen).
If you want my two Cents I had immesurable pleasure watching this movie!!
It is one of Steven Seagal's best Movie in Years,Maybe I could go as far as to say that it is his best in A Decade!!!
it takes place entirely in Japan...Fine,Steven Seagal knows so much about Japan that we feel as if we witnessed his earlier Japanese experience!!
That is Great!
Maybe you'll all agree with me that an actor of today is best when what he portrays is akin to what he is?
That is like "Hard To Kill" or "Under siege 2"!!!
The Martial Art is Great too!
I advise everyone to watch it!It's Vintage Seagal and it's 100 proof!!!

Shihonage says a lot there-- and sadly I have to agree with him. As one dimensional as John Wayne was, or Charles Bronson-- at least they tried to give you some more of what made them an attraction to begin with, even if it was "same-o, same-o" most of the time. Unfortunately, Seagal seems to have this attitude that because he has a following, he can take two 3 minute fight scenes and build a movie around it. The irony in this is it has worked for a LONG time-- here we all are, on a website constantly debating this subject, and then we turn around and buy MORE of Steves crap--- me included. (Like you Shihonage, I have all of his films too) The only good that came out of his last 8 movies was when I took all the fight scenes and combined them with an original bad-azz music sound track in my studio just to see if it would work better than his lame movies. Now doesnt THIS SUCK---- 30 minutes of fighting pulled from over 752 minutes of 8 really BAD films. OH-- and by the way--- the only reason the fight scenes got stretched out to 30 minutes is because I re-edited them with a lot of slow motion and special effects. The "as-is" length of the original scenes was exactly 21 minutes 24 seconds. So think about THAT as we debate this subject of Steves career path---
8 movies--- say they cost us all on average 15 bucks a piece. Thats 120 dollars for 21 minutes of Seagal fighting over the past few years. I dont know about you, but the man is a marketing genius isnt he? Shihonage-- I think I'm with you. INTO THE SUN is my last. =]

Oh yeah just a side note, I think Vin Diesel really has what it takes to take over the legit tough guy roles, being a bouncer and just looking like a rough guy...I think the only thing he lacks is good direction, his movies are way to crazy, he needs a simpler and more realistic formula, and good fight sequences. Maybe Dwight Little could do something right for the guy, if Marked For Death is his usualy style he's got it down, that movie was the epitome of a good simple but effective action movie IMO. I think Vin Needs to stray away from these way to OVER THE TOP style movies he continually does. I think the Rock is to corny to really be the next big action hero. Maybe it's because I used to watch WCW NITRO and WWF RAW a while back. What do you guys think

I think you should start watching wrestling again. Nitro was garbage anyway, RAW is still pretty quality and Wrestlemania 21 is coming up in a couple weeks. If you don't like the WWE style anymore check out TNA on Friday afternoons on Fox Sports Net, or go to www.tnawrestling.com. TNA is like a more polished ECW. Although nothing can really compare to the real ECW, TNA is the best thing since, in terms of their high-quality wrestling matches and extreme style. Let me know what you think; I love wrestling!

Haha, I made an 8-minute clip combining fighting scenes from his several early films including Above the Law and Out for Justice, and set to trance music. That was 2 years ago.

Well I posted this in my group after watching the movie-but couldn't get here at that time...I did enjoy the movie, but had some problems with it:

Well I appreciated the fact that he was certainly in the movie a lot
more than he has been in some previous others!

And the story line was a little confusing, but ok-moved around too
much from place to place.

I did notice stand ins for him just in walking scenes-maybe he was
not around at that time :(

I felt like I was watching a totally foreign movie though with all
the subtitles :(

And geez,it was 27 minutes into the movie before he hit anyone :)

Woohoo... Just watched Into the Sun...

I just finished watching Into the Sun and I actually enjoyed it. It was such a step up from the last STDVD I watched (I believe that was BOTB).

I always wanted to see him in something in Japan with a plot involving the Yakuza. In all reality with a little work and a bigger budget Into the Sun could have been a theatrical release and it would have been a good draw I would venture to say.

It wasn't a great movie but I'm just really happy that he came out with something that didn't make me cringe... oh and he needs to lose the rings... looked like a pimp... lol.
