Jean Michel Jarre Has A New Album
Jean Michel Jarre is still alive and very, very active. Privately as well as professionally. From Paris: Džana Mujadžić - javno.com -
“Pure air concerts” specialist, the 58-year-old Jean Michel Jarre successfully preserves his long built image of an urban musician, conserving the look of an eternal young man who assumes what is modern to any other kind of content. Since his school days with Pierre Scaeffer, who he participated with in the Group of Musical Researches, he maintained the experimental experience of sound spheres which he perfectly completes with solid instinct and a flair for the modern, i.e. attractive. This characteristic was particularly expressed in the unusual world famous “Oxygène” album from 1976: it was sold in 12 million copies.
After 17 albums, Jean Michel Jarre is promoting his new “opus studio” called "Téo et Téa". He skillfully mixed electronic music, hip-hop and dance floor, thus expertly imposing his own style, lyrical and adapted for dancing according to club standards. Composed by a synthesizer of the latest generation, ProTools tools and other rhythms, the album consists of thirteen units which possess elements of rhythmic energy and melodic melancholy.
The lovers` way
Album construction reminds us of a detailed film script of the theme “Love at First Sight”, but the author’s characterisation is more accurate: “The album suggests of exploration of the other person, of the perfect escort in a world where loneliness is vast, in spite of high communication technology means which surround us”. Jarre also believes that:” Music`s advantage is in the fact that it causes and creates emotions which everyone can share, therefore imagine a personal love story. Everyone is free to possess their own interpretation, personal perception of feelings.”
“Téo et Téa" album shows an adventure of a couple through titles where screams of actress Anna Parillaud can be heard, his current life companion. The composer almost deliberately reminds us that he is one of the permanent heroes of the “celebrities” column: stories of his relationship with Isabella Adjani, after the split with Charlotte Rampling, then a sudden wedding with 15 years younger Anne Parillaud, and an entire line of him gloomy but passionate affairs endlessly filled newspaper pages. When asked about it, he gives a rational explanation: “I have lived through hard times, privately and profesionally. My recent making up with father Maurice, great film music composer, helped me to get through all my problems”.
Still, not everything is ideal. He is not to keen on numerous music competitors. From Daft Punk, Bob Sinclair to Air, Jarre is disturbed with new prophets of the so called French Touch, which, according to his interpretation, is a completely unfamiliar term outside France. Whatever the case may be, jean Michel Jarre will soon head for a European tour, starting with France and how far or near will he be to us, remains to be seen.
