Hi all...
I’ve just joined today but I’ve been a fan ever since ‘Nico’ (Above the Law USA) hit our screens. It is one of the very few occasions when the audience were actually cheering. The scene where he is searching for his niece in the bar and lays out the thugs was stunning. No wirework, no side splits, no overblown moves, just simple effective techniques perfectly executed. It was such a breath of fresh air. At last a Martial Artist who made the moves look like they would be effective. None of this ten punches to the face, which are brushed aside with no effect.
I myself study the Martial Arts and currently hold a 7thDan in Wado Ryu Karatedo, 4thDan Ju Jitsu, 3rdDan Atemi Jitsu and 1stDan Kobudo. So for me authenticity is so important.
He has such on-screen charisma and that look of ‘Here we go agin’ when he is outnumbered by thugs brings a wry smile to my face. You just know they’re going to be dealt with swiftly and deadly. Let’s hope that Into The Sun and Submerged bring a return to form and that Hollywood will again match the budget to the talent. Joel Silver had faith with ‘Exit Wounds’, he should resurrect his old project ‘Man of Honor’ which was about the Mafia. I think it was Rupert Murdoch who stopped the film being made.
Anyway, must go. Keep the faith everyone and keep on watching!
Cheers
