That's a great picture, isn't it? :) I've always liked that one. We have that here in our gallery, as well.

I don't ever recall reading any particular article as to his ability to play the drums. I guess I just assumed he did, mostly from this picture. I suppose it's possible he was just playing around for the cameras and the crowd, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he does indeed play the drums--and play them quite well! :D
