Manloaf,
I'm sorry you feel that way! But this is a Steven Seagal web site!
We are here to discuss Steven Seagal!! "Off Topic" is open for you or anyone to discuss just about anything, other stars, other movies, other music, if that is your wish!
Every member is entitled to his/her opinion but it should be voiced as an opinion and not to belittle or berate Steven Seagal or another member! That is not what this board was created for!
The only thing that we demand is that this board be kept as clean as possible! We will not tolerate another SSMB!
Discussions are fine and encouraged but arguments are not!
We try very hard to only delete a post when it is absolutely necessary. We only lock-out a thread when it becomes evident that a situation is getting worse and not better!
God bless,
Mama san

I am aware of where I am and I understand the rules and your position on this board. I'm not defending argumentative posting nor am I challenging you to defend your actions on this board. I was merely stating some things that I noticed on this board. I thought that this was as good-a-place as any to state my opinions (seeing as how the topic was free speech and all).

Like all 'Free Speech', however, it's only accepted when in accordance to the majority.

We have had members blasted with filthy names and actual threats against them! That isn't right no matter what board one is on. One of "their" excuses was "free speech"!
Free speech is fine as long as it doesn't harm others!

I am sorry if you took my post as "jumping onto you"! Believe me I wasn't. I was merely trying to explain our situation here!
I never took it as though you "challenging" me!!I am not the only "moderator" on this board! All six of us try to work together
to keep this an enjoyable board for all Steven Seagal fans!
God bless,
Mama san

Free speech isn't determined by how many people agree with you. That's what makes it good. The whole world can be againsn't you, but you can still say whatever you choose too. Why let the majority control your thoughts? That's what this board wants to do, and that's not acceptable.

I really don't think this board wants to control your thoughts, more likely control how you express them in THEIR forum, which is acceptable.
kinda like a dress code for a night club, if it's not up to their standard you are asked to leave. You can chose to adhere to the standard, or not go back.

This topic has been done to death on the official board.

Manloaf wrote:"And the 'Off topic' section. I must admit that only after a couple of days of reading from the 'Steven Seagal' section (and finishing - soon after becoming bored) did I even notice there was an 'Off topic' section. The problem with it is that it feels distant and disconnected from the rest. "

I tend to agree with Manloaf about the 'off topic' forum, it is quite hard to see it where it is, maybe site it in the 'general forum' as off topic.
I'm not worried really, as I know where it is now, but for new members they might feel more inclined to post in general after some basic "testing" threads in off topic.

I think you missed the point of my statement. The emphasis was on 'accepted'.

Your previous post, for example, was deleted because it was seen (by the majority or the authority which in this case is the majority) as too negative. In my opinion though, it was just in retaliation to a negative comment expressed toward you. However, your freedom to reply to the comment was denied.

Mama San, I took no offence to your post, I was simply stating my opinions.

Like Manloaf said, you go through the main forums first as that is what is interesting, it is not until you have got to the end of all the SS forums that you realise there is an 'off topic forum' and an opportunity to introduce yourself.

At least, that's what I did. Maybe I'm just blind or too ignorant to look further than the SS forums, I'll leave that for others to decide.;)

I decided to join this site because of my appreciation for Steven Seagal.I dont think of myself as a rabid Seagal fan, just someone who was looking for people who I could associate with and share my feelings. I believe that this is what this site is about. I never thought the music section was about anything but Steven because this is a Steven Seagal site. At the moment this is all good fun and thats why I love it here. There are plenty of music sites and movie sites, more than there are SS sites. So just chill out and enjoy this site for what it is. And stop whingeing as we say here in Oz.

I don't think anyone is 'whingeing' and I too share your feelings.

I just thought I'd mention some things that I'd noticed.

I was deleted because someone (along with a bunch of yes men) don't have the balls to simply let people express themselves how they want, whether that be positive or negative. When I respond back, they delete my "speech", yet the person who initially said something about me doesn't get deleted. It's bull****, and while I laugh it off, I want people to know that no matter what they think about free speech, I will always speak my mind (as should anybody else) and people need to stop getting so bent out of shape when someone states something that seems harsh to them. This is a web board, not a night club. True some clubs have dress codes, but we're not paying to come here and post messages. If I had to pay, I wouldn't be here because I don't need to pay to be regulated. This is a dead end issue though because the people who run this site will continue to delete what they don't like or even understand. That's fine.... That just means I will continue expressing my "FREE SPEECH". Peace

"Tommy",
Free speech is for everyone! But one would not yell "fire!" in a crowded room, if there were no fire. Nor does one make derogatory remarks and/or threats aginst their fellow members of this board! It has been done here but it will not be tolerated!
If the moderators find it necessary to delete a post then it will be deleted! If the moderators find it necessary to edit a post then it will be edited! If a thread is causing too many "problems' then it will either be locked-out or deleted!

Those who abide by the rules are most welcome here! Those who do not wish to abide by those rules can expect to be edited or deleted, as the case may be.
Conflicts and abuse are what we are trying very hard to avoid!
God bless,

I'm all for free speech, and even the use of profanity is ok as long as you aren't aiming it at someone to hurt them. But we have to remember that everything on this board has the potential to affect Steven Seagal, so for his sake the mods should regulate the outlandish, insulting and/or vulgar. Being a fan I wouldn't want anything I said to reflect badly on Steven Seagal. Now, I know he probably may not read this stuff, but being a fan I wouldn't want him reading something that would in any way, be harmful or embarassing to him...Just my opinion as a yes woman...;)

I'm not yelling fire... I'm simply stating my views and some of them get deleted... Unacceptable.... What's so hard about tolerating opposite means of expression? I don't care if it's you or a million more... I will post how I want, when I want, and in whatever fashion I want, and the worst you can do to me is delete me. I will come right back and keep giving my opinions. Eventually, you will have to tolerate opposing viewpoints. I know that's like asking Gary Coleman to grow, but instead of deleting people's posts, just accept them as being different than your's, and let it be.

Tommy,
You are correct! You can post when you want! But, again, if you do not abide by the rules of this board, then you will be edited or deleted! How ever many times you may wish to return is entirely up to you. At any time, under any name, you are welcome to post
here but only if your posts are not abusive or derogatory against Steven Seagal or other members of this board!
I cannot state it any plainer than that! It's up to you!
God bless,
Mama san

I can post "what" I want as well... Get that through your head. I can't state it any plainer than that... It's up to you to realize that much like before, you can't win this battle. Let people post what they want, and I'd never have a bad thing to say. If you think about it, you should see the logic there. If not, then oh well.

Yes you can post what you want, but the moderators will decide though if it's appropriate for the forum! If not they'll edit/delete it. We've already had members posting topics just to insult others.
