“Songs From The Crystal Cave”, Steven Seagal’s much-awaited first album, has been released exclusively in France on May 18th, 2004.

…Steven Seagal, one of the world’s most popular motion picture actors, hasn’t finished surprising us yet ! “Songs from the crystal cave” is a true gift to us. His love for music, and especially American Black Music, has grown together with his passion for the guitar, which he has been playing since the age of 14.

Some usser comments about the album:

Damn, he doesn’t sound half bad. May have to checkout the CD.

Comment by Guy S.

Like EDDIE MURPHY, et al. their songs in the 1980’s were definitely NOT the best, but weren’t the WORST either! On VH1 many of the 80’s best or memorable songs are now listed as THE WORST - MTV and America has gone to hell since they stopped playing HEADBANGERS BALL, as well as stopped showing BUGS BUNNY-ROADRUNNER toons and classic shows on Saturdays and weekends!

Comment by JosephMendiola

great album. I liked his voice and songs !!

Comment by aria

at least his singing better than his acting. a little better

Comment by ricky

If one is objective one will recognise that Mr Seagal’s acting is fine for the type of action picture he appears in. His maner is similar to Clint Eastwood’s, and I don’t hear any flak directed at him. Also he has other qualities notably lacking in many modern male stars, and is a genuine martial arts expert, not that I’m a fan of martial arts. I’ve heard one track of his album and it sounded liveley and as good as many singers and bands around at the moment.

Comment by Paul

From the couple of snippets I’ve listened to - this isn’t half bad - it would fit nicely in the lineup of the KJAZZ radio show “Nothing But the Blues".

Honestly, he sounds somewhere between Delbert McClinton and Lowell George - which ain;t bad company to be in at all!

It’s cool when you discover that some actors actually have talents and interest outside of Hollywood.

I’m digging it.

Glad to hear you got it so quickly and without any problems. :) And very glad you like it so much! As I've said, I've heard nothing negative so far. In fact, even people who were expecting the worst were pleasantly suprised. My copy should be here any day now and I'm really looking forward to it. :)

I know...I've had quite a few people that have looked at it with the "yeah right" attitude...but have walked away going "WOW!". My roommates have all said fantastic things about it as well.

I was really suprized how quick it got here too...I honestly wasn't expecting it till mid next week...so it was nice to find in the mailbox yesterday :).

I have entered The Light!

I ordered the CD from Amazon FR. long before it hit the US. There are two versions. One has an extra song "Little Red Roster" and one has a DVD with the video of "Better Man". I have both. I listen to them all the time.

My Favs are.

Don't You Cry
Better Man
My God He really nailed it on this one.
Goree
The Light By far my favorite, it speaks to my very soul.
Little Red Roster

I would really like to be a guitar when he is playing it.

I didn't know that. I thought it was only the 'Girl It's Alright' video.

I AM VERY IMPRESSED

I truely enjoy listening to his music, the different styles he has incorporated as well as the many messages he relays

Glad to hear you liked the CD, Comet, and nice of you to post that. I thoroughly enjoyed it myself, and I still haven't seen any negative reviews about it yet. I have a couple of threads here with glowing reviews from both the L.A. Times and the Chicago Tribune, among a few others. Most people, like yourself, are surprised to find they genuinely liked it. :D

Welcome to the forum, Comet. :)

Hi All

I don't know about you guys, but I was shocked by this album's sheer brilliance considering its Steven's first. I always knew he had talent for writing music for his movies, but to be a great martial artist and also to now have an excellent singing voice, that's brilliant. I can't get his album out of my cd player right now. When Steven does retire from acting he can always take up music full time. My brother joked when I told him about the album, but when he heard it he called it brilliant, and he's not even a fan of Steven. Even though Steven's movies may not be brilliant lately, you have to praise the man for the majority of his career action movies being the best there is post Bruce Lee, and to be able to now also sing so brilliantly he deserves the highest of praise, whatever he churns out in the way of movies, good or bad in the future. My main favorite songs on crystal cave although I love all of them are:

Don't Cry
Girl Its Alright

Nash
