Steven Seagal Enters Dragon Squad
Source: Variety
February 21, 2005

Steven Seagal is turning his hand to producing Asian pictures, starting with Dragon Squad, a martial arts actioner that's due to start filming March 15 in Hong Kong, reports Variety. Daniel Lee (Black Mask) will direct the movie.

Seagal is serving as one of the producers together with Jimmy Moy, with whom he is partnered in Bangkok-based World Media, Bey Logan and Catherine Hun.

Dragon Squad is a Cantonese/English-language saga of a battle between Interpol agents and gangsters in Hong Kong. The cast includes Sammo Hung, Michael Biehn, Andy On, and Vaness Wu.

Logan and Moy are also developing Shadows on the Sun as a project that will mark a radical departure from Seagal's tough-guy persona. Written by Logan (The Medallion), it will feature Seagal as a burned-out former intelligence officer who runs a medical clinic in Japan just after WWII.

Thanks Serena!!:D
Its to bad Seaga isn't staring in this one. :smad:
It would be interesting to see Seagal star in foreign film (Clementine doesn't count), and I'd like to see Seagal in a movie with Sammo Hung too, atleast Seagal would look skinnier in comparison!;):D

You're welcome, Suzi and Clement.

Clement, wouldn't it be cool if he made a quick little appearance in the movie? ;) You know, like Alfred Hitchcock used to do (if you even know who he is :D). Just a quick glimpse in the background, or someone walking by in the crowd, something like that. He did that in many of his movies, and I read where people were so busy looking for him that they weren't following the movie. :D So he started making his appearance early on in the movie. Not a bad idea, eh? :D

I wont be surprised if he does make a little appearance in it in some way or the other! And it should be a good film if he's producing.

Sorry Alfred Whocock?
I'm not familiar with this gentlemen you speak of.:p:D
Come on Serena, you take me for someone who isn't a couch potato, LOL.
I know who Alred Hithchcock is, (Psycho, The Birds) but I didn't know that about him, very interesting! Thanks. :D
I'm thinking Seagal should have to be in any movie he produces for a couple of minutes or even seconds! :)
Most of us here will only watch or buy it because he produced it, why not let us see what we payed for. HAHA.
Or maybe Seagal could be Sammo Hungs skinner body double.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Update !!!

Dragon Squad producer waxes lyrical
Posted on Thr, 3-Mar-2005

Moviehole caught up with Bey Logan, producer of the the forthcoming "Dragon Squad", which he's handling with Steven Seagal, and got an update on how the film, starring Sammo Hung and Michael Biehn, is going.

"Mr.Seagal and his partner, Jimmy Moy, have been invaluable in terms of their advice on what it takes to make a film that will play to the worldwide action market. Steven remains the biggest action star on DVD and its great to be in business with him", says Logan.

The asian martial arts pic will be directed by Daniel Lee ["Black Mask"] and tells the story of a a battle between Interpol agents and gangsters in Hong Kong.

"Our cast is truly a gathering of the best from east and west. We have Sammo Hung, from 'Martial Law', Michael Biehn, from 'Terminator' and 'The Rock', Andy On, from 'Black Mask 2' and 'New Police Story', Vanness Wu, from 'Star Runner', Ho Jun-heo, from 'Volcano High' and 'Silmido', Simon Yam from 'Tomb Raider 2' and Maggie Q from 'Naked Weapon'. Quite a line-up, isn't it?", he adds. "We start shooting March 20th".

Chinese newspaper Goat City Evening Post just uncovered the plot of Bey Logan / Steven Seagal co-produced Hong Kong production Dragon Squad: a prostitute, befriends a gang lord but later finds out her "boyfriend" is only using as a cover for his own business. Before she could get her out of danger, she unwillingly becomes a bait of a rival gang and Interpol agents. Mainland Chinese actress Li Bingbing (A World without Thieves, Purple Butterfly) told the paper that she will play the prostitute and other cast members included Shawn Yue (Infernal Affairs trilogy), Xia Yu (Shadow Magic, In the Heat of the Sun) and Huang Shengyi (Kung Fu Hustle). According to an earlier report, the cast also included Sammo Hung, Michael Biehn, The Rock, Andy On (New Police Story, Black Mask 2), Vanness Wu (Star Runner), Heo Jun-Ho (Silmido), Simon Yam (PTU, The Mission) and Maggie Q (Naked Weapon, Gen-Y Cops). Li said shooting of this English-language production would start next month.

Thanks, Craig! :) This is the most information we've seen on this yet.
Saaayyy........how did you beat Suzi and me to the punch this time?
Were you just relaxing in your cozy chair with your pipe and slippers, reading your daily copy of the "Goat City Evening Post"? :D

Interesting that the original article I posted said production would begin March 15th, then Suzi's update said March 20th, and now this article says starting next month.

So that probably means it will begin in the summer. :D
