Terminator 3's Massive Budget!

I was reading an article in Total Film magazine regarding the upcoming "Terminator 3" and it states that the budget of the film was $185 million! It is the most expensive movie ever green-lighted and $30 million of that budget is winging its way into Arnie's pocket. That film is going to have to be something special if it is ever going to make a profit as it is good word of mouth which sustains a films success at the box office. I think a lot of effects heavy movies that have little story/plot tend to open big to begin with then drop out of the top 10 pretty soon as the word of mouth is'nt good therefore people don't go and see it and instead wait for the video.

Hope it is good though but speaking for myself I think Arnie is definatly not worth the $30 million fee he's commanded, particularly since his box office pulling power has been on the wane for the past half decade. Don't get me wrong, I really like him and is unquestionably the biggest action star produced during the 80's but he is being eclipsed now by newer/younger stars and the type of films he made his name in have evolved to the point that he would look out of place making films like the ones he used to make in his hey day. I still think he has a sembelence of a future in Hollywood (particularly if T3 is successfull) but his asking fee for his film making services is far too high and will probably price himself out of making films.

I'm looking forward to T3 and it'll be interesting to see how well it does expecially with a new director and without the old Sarah Conner and a new young John Conner. It will make its budget back though in my opinion especially when it has finished its run worldwide. Arnie is the franchis and so i think he deserves the $30 mil payday. I think it will momentarily ressurrect his career so that he can make a few more sequels to some of his other big movies but he is on the way down as everyone has seen over the last several years with most of his movies not making back their budget..
I was more shocked to see that Keanu Reeves will be making up to $200,000,000.00(thats 200 million dollars) for the two matrix sequels. Thats because he signed on to get 15% of whatever the movie and the dvd's and vhs and matrix games makes along with all other related Matrix material. Not bad uhh!
