Hello Forum,

I have much thanks to share with people on this forum, (so thanks) and in time I will most definitly post each one of you. However time permits me now to say I am testing again with Shihan Isoyama in March of '04. As you all might know, Shihan Isoyama is a primary influence on Shihan Seagal's Aikido. I would like to take the oppurtunity to ask anyone who is interseted. To give me a question about Shihan Seagal to ask Shihan Isoyama. I would be most delighted and honored to ask the question. I would of course return the answer to the forum.

Good luck on your testing in March, Aikijones! Thank you for your generous offer to post questions to Shihan Isoyama on our behalf. I'm sure some of our members will indeed have a few.

Question: Under what circumstances would Steven Seagal use his aikido skills against other people, for example, if being robbed at knife point etc?

Thanks.

Nash.

Shihan Isoyama's main Dojo is on the out skirts of Tokyo. Shihan conducts a JASDF(Japanese Air Force) summer camp in Kashima every year, in which the present Doshu of Aikikai gives lectures. He Also Teaches Seminars in Colorado and around the world. Thanks Musubiuk for the question.

Hello Nash,

You might have misinterpreted me. I will be testing with Shihan Seagal's sensei. However I will ask Shihan Isoyama your question. Of course I should tell you I'm quite nervous to ask, because no doubt Shihan will use me as the knife aggressor and I can already feel the pain. Thank you nash Ha Ha.

Hi Everyone,

I need your help and assistance if possible!!!!

I am trying really hard to locate the clip of Hiroshi Isoyama taken from the 1983 all japan aikido demonstration. It was available on Aikido Journal for some time but they have taken it offf and will not put it back on, I dont know why but they have really got me mad. It must be something to do with polotics as usual.

So does anyone have the clip stored on their hard drive that they could share with me. I will do a favour in return.

You see if we let people like Aikido Journal take away demonstrations that look very practical and realistic Aikido will lose some of its credibility like it is and considering Isoyama was Seagal's instructor we need to preserve and speak out against these politics in Aikido and show people what Aikido can be in the modern day rather than what it was.

Hope you can help

Musubuik,

I could agree with you on your thoughts about preseving Takemusu Aiki. For some reason Aikido in America has lost touch with the type of training we get in Japan. I have the clip on the Expo 1983 and will put it here somehow. However try to look in the Aikijournal archives first or Stanly"s Dictionary under Hiroshi Isoyama at the same site.

Maybe a little later than sooner, aiki?
I'm afraid I haven't been able to think of a good one, yet...
Maybe it's just my general ignorance of the martial arts...

Thank-You...

Soon...:)

Lotus,

Your not alone, I haven't thought of a good one yet either. Remember I have to ask the question and if it comes out wrong I know I will pay for it. Ha Ha
Besides it doesn't have to be a Martial Arts question just something Shihan Isoyama might know about Shihan Seagal.

I have a couple:
If it's OK to ask... When, and how did S. Seagal and H. Isoyama first met? Did Isoyama teach at the Tenshin dojo in Osaka or did Seagal visit Isoyamas dojo for lectures? (Since I've met Isoyama at a seminar) I know he (Isoyama) studied with O-sensei in Iwama together with (e.g.) M. Saito, so did he teach S. Seagal bukiwaza or otherwise know how/with whom S. Seagal studied it? (I'm not refering to his kenjutsu training in Yagyu Shinkage ryu but his aikido bukiwasa).
Finally thank him for his time from me, and send him my warm greeting from Sweden. And that I hope I will see him soon here again, using me again as uke during his "pain techniques".

I have tried to send you the attachment but I keep getting the error "file is to large." I have tried to send it through outlook and hotmail but get the same response. I'm still tring to figure a way to send it to you. If any one has any ideas please let me know.

Musubiuk,

Try the MSN search engine. Type Isoyama and goto number 13. It might take a minute or two to load but Aikijournal hasn't taken it from MSN HeHe.
