This week I will rent Sydney Pollack's Interpreter, Unleashed(Unrated Edition), Kingdome of Heaven(A Masterpiece alongside Gladiator), and possibly Mind Hunters.

P.S I grew up with American Ninja 1 and 2 :) Those Films aren't exactly gold but just guilty pleasures.

I didn't enjoy The Interpreter at all. :( It seemed like a very long movie and it only lasted 90 minutes. I quite enjoyed Mind Hunters though.

Unleashed was pretty good too. Some of it was filmed in Scotland. :)

Luc Besson's third masterpiece in my opinion. Not quite as good as Le Femme Nikita or The Professional but it definitely belongs in his top ten. I think people were expecting too much action. Luc Besson does his share of mindless flashy action films. Style over substances type. But this was always a drama and I think people just forgot that when they saw the fight scenes being advertised. Sort of misleading advertising.

Sydney Pollack is a credible Director. But his Films aren't for everyone. Strictly Thriller wise he impressed me with Quite American and The Firm. Interpreter to me looks like a Hitchcock tribute especially the scene with the bomb on the bus. And Sydney Directed some episodes of Hitchcock's Show so to me this is a little treat.

Mind Hunters is yet another remake of the classic And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Great novel but I haven't seen a Film Adaptation I quite liked so far. This one looks competent and thrilling even. There's even a spin off show in the works. Is it like a reality show with a murder and people have to solve it? Or a CSI type show perhaps who knows.

I seen Unleashed and loved it. Looking forward to Interpreter and Mind Hunters.

If you have a chance catch this French action movie - Banlieue 13 - do so. Is is one of the best action movies i've seen this year. It is very close to Ong Bak in terms of stunts. :) Luc Besson is producer too.

Thanks Craig. I heard of it before vaguely. Seen the Trailer too. Its part of Luc Besson's Mindless Action Film Collection but it does start the very talented Cyril Raffaelli(The shorter Twin from Kiss of the Dragon). Also David Belle who has been close friends with Cyril. They are both not only very talented stuntman, acrobats, but also had their own Yamakasi type group. I will eventually purchase it but I am glad to know I won't be disappointed action wise.

Another movie you guys might want to check out is The Defender, Dolph Lundgren stars AND directs this one. Let me tell you, the movie cost only USD 8 million, but it looks and sounds great. It's a very well put together movie with a pretty good cast, above average directing, good acting all around and with a VERY intelligent and SUSPENSFUL script. It actually puts to shame Steven's latest movies. Had The Foreigner been something like the The Defender in terms of quality we might have actually had a chance to see SS on the big screen again...

The Defender is a great movie, similar to the The Bourne Identity/The Bourne Supremacy movies as it is an action-thriller and not an all-out action movie. It has same low points but considering the budget it had, I think it came out great.

I'm hoping that Black Dawn will end up being as good, but I really don't think it will... Also, The Defender was filmed in Romania, so at least I can hope that the Van Damme movie Second in Command and Steven Seagal's Shadows of The Past might end up being good.

Considering that we can make great little action movies like The Defender, but also crap like Wesley Snipes' The Marksman I would say chances are 50/50 for the two above mentioned movies...

Keep an eye out for Dolph Lundgren's latest movie The Mechanik. He also stars and directs in this one and the buzz on the Internet says that it's kick-ass.

Dolph is making great movies, Van Damme made Wake of Death which was really good, but Steven seems to keep making low-quality action movies. At least they keep getting marginally better (see Today You Die). One guy who seems to have hit rock bottom is Snipes. The Marksman made me feel embarassed to watch it...

I'm going to make a special thread about the DTV movies from these guys...

You seem to be a Fan of Dolph's. So am I mate. I grew up with him, Van Damme, Seagal, Chuck Norris etc Those are the older Action Stars that pawed way for the mostly unimpressive hacks we have now days.

Speaking of Dolph I watched the embarrassingly bad Detention recently which made me want to vomit. But Direct Action which followed it I heard is very good and these two upcoming Films look promising.

There is a joke at his expense I like. With his I.Q he should be picking better roles. Well it is the truth. He made some entertaining films but now days he picks bad roles and bad projects. But eventually we get a gem.

I'm not really a fan of Dolph's, but since I grew up with him and all of the other action-stars, I want him and the others to do well in their careers. Dolph's recent movies have been awful, but The Defender is sort of a masterpiece when compared to the other movies he made. It's quite grown up and realistic not to mention intelligent and packed with action and that's why I like it. Steven's movies seem to go towards the teenager-cool-hyperactive kind of action. SS is still trying to look cool and badass like he did in his early career.

I honestly would make an action movie with SS in which the fact that he is older and not so in shape would be a part of the story. The movie I would make would be a remake (sort of) of the movie The Last Run from 1971 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067329/ ).... Check that movie out if you can, it's fantastic....

Let's hope The Mechanik is as good as some people on the net make it out to be.
