British T.V station Channel 4 recently conducted an opinion poll to find the 100 Greatest Film Stars of all time. I have listed the top 20 according to the poll to see what your opinion is.

1* Al Pacino
2* Robert De Niro
3* Tom Hanks
4* Kevin Spacey
5* Harrison Ford
6* Jack Nicholson
7* Anthony Hopkins
8* Sean Connery
9* Ewan McGregor
10* Cary Grant
11* Samuel L Jackson
12* James Stewart
13* Audrey Hepburn
14* Steve McQueen
15* Brad Pitt
16* Paul Newman
17* Mel Gibson
18* Clint Eastwood
19* Robin Williams
20* Sigourney Weaver

British film critic Barry Norman has rejected the poll as it fails to list both renouned thespians Laurence Olivier and Sir John Mills saying that people have just voted for stars who's films they've seen recently and not given enough consideration towards it.

I have to say that I personally disagree with it too. I mean I can't believe Clint Eastwood, who has probably the most recognizable cinematic face ever, is entered at #18 while a young upstart (though admittedly good actor) like Ewan McGregor is in the top 10! And Robin Williams in the top 20..... Come on! I mean why the hell is John Wayne not in the top 20?

If I realised people were going to vote so stupidly I would have personally voted for Steven Seagal or Arnold Schwarzenegger myself in the top 20. I feel they are more deserving than some of the ones that are in it?

I suppose it is an opinion poll but some of the choices are strange.

What do other board members think?

Certainly Brad Pitt should not have been included nor should Sigourney Weaver. While I like Ewan MacGregor, I wouldn't put him in the top 20. Ditto Mel Gibson. What about Ben Kingsley? He's not on the list, and he's FABULOUS in any role he plays. What about Richard Burton? Henry Fonda? Someone mentioned Jack Lemmon should have been on the list - definitely! And Alec Guinness? Shouldn't he be on the list? And Sidney Poitier?

Brad Pitt. Yuck. Now I'm going to have to wash my mouth out with soap.

I think Anthony Hopkins is good, too...Brad Pitt? I am still trying to figure out how he is so popular...The first movie I saw him in was Kalifornia and he looked like a scumbag...He still does nowadays...Beards are yucky looking in my opinion...

I bet the average age of the people who took part in the vote was 18 to 25. They only vote for actors that they have seen in films of the last 5 to 7 years. :(

My grandmother got me into some of the older movies, her fav actors were Gregory peck (may he rest in peace) and Cary Grant was her very fav...But geez, know what? I have never even seen Casablanca...;) :D ;) And I am not joking...However I do know it was filmed in morocco...I have had some moraccan food too, as we had a friend from there when we lived in Cairo...Pickled Lemons and couscous, who knew? They are both yummy...:D
