Under siege 3 director

As far as I can remember Seagal has also been a producer on all of his films so he should be taking better notice on everything that goes on in his movies..

Well, perhaps he thinks it's rude to point out all
the faux pas, I dunno...
I think I would feel that way if it were me...
And I am sure he knows that there are mistakes
being made here and there, maybe he just feels
as if he would be stepping on people's toes and
hurting their pride, by pointing them out...
Or maybe he is just too into his own thing,
and way too tired or too busy to bother...
Honestly I don't even really know what the
technical description of a 'producer' is anyhow...
Yet, I can imagine he might feel that way about
pointing fingers...
Just my thoughts...:)

I dont think Seagal would or should care about stepping on people's toes since the movie he is starring in is a direct reflection of him and he should ensure that all of his movies are produced the best way that they can be..
Lately though, I think Seagal is just picking up a paycheck and most of the movies that he is making he really dont care much about anyway..When he was on top he was always talking about how tired he was of making the same old mindless action films and now that is all he is doing but most of these are now mindless and plotless and cheaply done..Seagal could have made a lot more big action films back in the 90's but he was dragging his feet..He should have stayed with Warner Bros and kept making the action films that they were offering..Now, he has to take whatever is offered and some of these are not that great anymore..

Ah well, we all make our choices, and I am not
saying what he has had to decide was easy,
after all I'm not walking in his shoes...
I think perhaps he and warner were not understanding
eachother so well...
Maybe they wanted him to compromise too much...
Maybe all this is not all so important to him
anymore, maybe other things are, I don't
know really, but I don't fault him, he's only
human, after all...
Not everyone does things because the money is good...
Sometimes it is more of an expression, and a desire to
express an idea or a message...
I think this was his objective with FDB, and ODG, and I
understood that, and appreciated it...
I still admire what he has done, and I appreciate his talents
and his efforts...:)

Lotus,
According to the Cambridge Dictionary:

produce (FILM/BROADCASTING) verb [T]
to organize the practical and financial matters connected with the preparation of a film, play or television or radio programme.

producer noun [C]
a person who makes the practical and financial arrangements needed to make a film, play, television or radio programme:
a film/Hollywood/movie producer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
However, I don't know that this mean that the "producer" has complete contol over every aspect of the film.
God bless,
Thanks, Casey...:)
I needed that! :D
I am guessing a producer
funds some of the film, and
then finds investors for the
remaining budget...
And I guess whatever 'practical matters'
are involved to get things rolling...
I don't think the producer controls the
whole show, hmmmm, just maybe that is
the directors job...
Steven is marvelous, and I think he does
a great job...
To juggle all that he obviously does to make
these films (including the traveling, wow!) is
very, very admirable! :)
Well, they didn't do any character introduction as someone said...
Steven is a natural teacher, so the professor role was fine, only they should have shown him doing a little bit more as the prof, so we could get into it...
As in most of Seagal's films; the introductory character is verbal...
we are always given a brief background...
we had this in MFD,US,ODG,TGM,etc
In OFAK he was a thief of expensive paintings and Chinese artifacts..as the one family head states "He's one of us".....when he returned to the US in '85 the Fedsbusted him and he did 7 years in a Fed pen....where he utilized his time and knowledge of Chinese artifacts to earn a doctorate in Chinese archeology....which gave him title of professor ......
and of course when they punch it in the database there's nothing known of him prior to "85(I think it said)
TGM we knew he was a government assasin..
US we knew he was a leader4 of a seal team,
The Patriot we knew he was a bio-chemist that developed bio-logical weapons
Ticker we knew he was leader of a assualt team(I think he said) until 'something went wrong and alot of his boys got killed'
etc.
tho' we never saw the character.....we did get an idea of the background that lead him to where he 'was' in the film.
in ATL,HTK we got a couple of prior scenes....in ODG we get the whole 'transformation' from one charater to the next...
In most instances we are told he was basiacally "evil' till something crossed his path and changed his character to where the film usually picks up on......which is why I always thought Seagal's present character
in the film was so determined and basically unstoppable....knowing of the past he created and trying to make good out of the evil he did.
I thought that was the 'trademark' of Seagal films
Maybe he do them both?
I wonder is this movie really going to get made?
I am not getting my hopes up just in case, but it would be nice...
Have any idea what the critics would do to him if he even mentioned he was going to film US3?
you think they were 'merciless' with ODG......this would put the lid on Seagal's coffin...
the movie would be dead before it hit the screens
I can't think of an actor that the critics most hate... Seagal is on his own way, leave him alone...
Yesterday I saw a very interesting thing on TV, on a news program (the most important here in Brazil), a reporter was showing a mall, telling about the increasement of people visiting them, especially because of security things, so they can use the atms, etc, and go to the movies, then, the reporter was walking in a movies hall, with many posters of them, and, for my surprise, he stops, and on the screen is showing only the reporter and a poster aside him, and that poster, guess which movie it was ?? Yeah !!! Half Past Dead !!!!! I was surprised because Seagal is not so famous here, and they showed the poster for about 10 seconds, but, many people watched it, as I said, it's the main news program here... hope it can help people go to see the movie... :) and my question is, was it a coincidence, or the reporter was a Seagal fan ??
I can only say it was great to see them "promoting" the movie... :)
Rodrigo,
Coincidence or deliberate, glad you were able to see it. Let's hope that this is one more reporter
who is a "reporter" and not just a warf-rat, like most of the others.
God bless,
He gets no respect, sigh...
But this is a good sign, cool...:D
Steven, if you a reading I want you to
know that I deeply respect you, you are
truly an amazing man!
At the rate Seagal is going now, his future project may be called "Marked for Retirement"..
I think "Into the Sun" maybe his last chance to get a reprive and make a few more theatrical films..If it tanks, that will be bad news for Seagal's future in films..
