Do you know this movie?

Craig's thread on Chernobyl has triggerered the memory of a movie I have been trying to recall the name of for years. I'm sure none of you "youngsters" will know it, but maybe some of the others--you know, closer to my age. :D

Anyway, I saw it as a kid, so it's old (but no, smarties, it wasn't a silent movie :D). It was about a submarine that surfaced from a mission to find that the world had been involved in a world-wide war. It took them a while to realize this, as they were unable to contact anyone. Finally they were able to reach some people in Australia, the only survivors left in the world. And they were just waiting to die, waiting for the effects of the radiation to reach them, as it was slowly drifting their way.

Most of the men in the sub decided they wanted to spend their last remaining days with these people in Australia, so decided to set course. However, at least one person that I remember decided he wanted to die in his hometown, which I think may have been San Francisco, so they take him there, then proceed. You see him walking these desolate, deserted streets of this once great city, newspapers and garbage blowing about, but no signs of humans at all. It was one of the eeriest things I've seen in a movie.

I remember they finally ended up in Australia, but don't remember much after that. I think that was basically the end of the movie. They finally met up with these few survivors to spend their last days together.

From what I remember, it wasn't a B type movie. I think it had big-name stars of the day in it. I've talked to a few others over the years who vaguely remembered this, but couldn't remember the name, nor do I recall ever seeing it since.

Any ideas what this movie was called? There may be a reward. ;) :D

Incentives and their potentials ...

Yeah LOL I wouldn't know, but it sounds like it would be a great remake. And imagine the potential of that girl Elena if she contacts some Hollywood place to talk about shooting a motion picture or a documentary of some sort.

LOL you and your prizes ... everything needs its incentives these days.
Hey Serena why don't you do your own version of that Janet Jackson half-time show ... dress up and everything ... now here's a question - who wants to play Timberlake's part? LOL

I've been here for only 3 something months, so what kind of reputation is it? :=)

LOL ... but weren't you the one with the offer :=)

There's still that chat of Friday - that's where you can 'redeem' your reputation or completely lose it (depending if I'm there and the topics going at the moment):=)

Actually, Yudansha, it's a reputation I'm quite proud of.
So maybe I'd best be a bit more careful with the playful bantering, eh? :)

Sorry about that.

don't be puzzled - it's all good

Oh so you're still here :=)
How often do you monitor this site anyways?

Is your reputation being a good girl and fixing everybody's problems? I just don't know. All I can say is that you're a good monitor (kind of reminds me of those hallway monitors in elementary school - those teachers that always look for kids that wander around without a hallway pass LOL I'm just kidding ... you're great, and I ain't kidding about that).

Fairly often since I've been off work with my knee the past 3-1/2 weeks. Maybe more if I end up having surgery.

"Is your reputation being a good girl and fixing everybody's problems?"
Pretty much, yes. :D I guess that sums it up rather well.

What you see is pretty much what you get. The whole package. The good with the bad. A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. A little sugar, a little spice. Love me or leave me. :D

And I "ain't kidding", either. ;)
