Fist of Legend

I watched some parts of the movie last night on TV, and I was very impressed on how Jet Li doesn’t respect other Martial Arts.... Correct me if I’m wrong, but, the Aikido black belt pants, worn by Senseis, are those worn by other Martial Arts ??? Because on the movie, all the Aikido black belts martial artists were getting kicked by Jet Li and others, they were the bad guys of the movie, I wonder if Mr. Li is aware of the ability of an Aikidoist black belt, I think it would be necessary only one REAL Aikidoist to break all the bones of that **** body of his...come on !!!!!!! He was fighting agains 4, 5 at the same time, and didn’t lose !!!!!
And those “Aikidoists” started fighting, and if I remember, in Aikido philosophy, if you give the first attack, you are losing already, because it breaks the harmony....
I think that no Martial Arts movie should characterize a Martial Art to fight against another... it gives the impression like: “Look !!! I’m taking 4, 5 aikidoists at once, look how bad that Martial Art is !!!” what does Jet Li has against Aikidoists ???????? There should be respect among all the Martial Arts... I mean, fighting against people wearing regular clothes like Seagal movies or any other Martial Art actor..... or maybe they just put the Aikido black belt kimono to impress ???? Because, that kimono is very beautiful, and impressing...

Who said they were aikidoka? If I remember it is a remake of a Bruce Lee movie. They were simply japanese training some sort of jujutsu/judo/karate (you name it). Back in the days everyone trained bujutsu in hakama (the black pants that aikidoka train in) and since the japanese in the movie were suppose to be right wing traditionalists they were dressed in hakama. Hakama in this case was the directors way of showing who the japanese (i.e. bad guys) are.

It has nothing to do with aikido!

Suzi, those two are some of my favorite pics!
Wow, he's magnificent! :)

Thank-You, it is so nice to see them again and again, just like he is in my dreams...:)

Jalu, hmmm, yes, I bet he's damn handsome OUT of that hakama too...heh, heh...;)

Folding one of those things is ultra complex, or so I hear, I guess I better learn how, eh?

Some info on the hakama from:

http://jujitsuannex.tripod.com/Hakama.htm

Formal Trousers

The Hakama is a pair of pleated pants, worn over a gi. In Jujitsu, Hakamas are often worn on formal occasions such as Shiai (tournaments) or promotions. Originally designed to protect the legs of a horseman, the samurai continued to wear the Hakamas to set them apart from others. The traditional Hakama is black or navy in color and can on occasion be found in white or with a pattern). As with many aspects of martial arts, the Hakama has it's own traditions. For instance, the Hakama is symbolic in the martial arts. It has seven pleats two in the back and 5 in the front.

Each pleat is representative of the following:

*

Chugi - loyalty
*

Gi - integrity
*

Jin - humanity
*

Makoto - sincerity
*

Rei - courtesy
*

Meiyo - honor
*

Yuki - bravery

There are a few traditional ways to wear and fold the Hakama.
The best way to set out to fold the hakama is to make sure you have plenty of room.
