Hi Folks!

Having saw a few pictures from the Koreon film which Seagal is starring in "Clementine", I think he looks to be in better shape than he was in his 4 previous movies. To me this can only be a good thing.

BTW whats this about a Mountain Dew ad? Has this been made lately or is it an old ad. Have'nt been to this site for a while and need to catch up on developments.

Cheers.

And don't forget to vote at the Mountain Dew site for his commercial. :)

It takes time to ready through all this..but it's all useful info..so get busy :=))

Hey MMCK2. I haven't seen you here before. I am yudansha. Steven Seagal does look great in Clementine.

The ad is not new ... it's been released some time ago (a month or two ago) and was probably made several weeks prior to that. It has shown to be a great publicity stunt, and I think it will help Steven Seagal's promos for his upcoming films.

Just to put the budget of "Into the sun" in perspective, the new mortal kombat movie, highly anticipated by fans of the series, only has a $25 million dollar budget. 10 million less than this one. I do agree though, lets hope they put that cash to good use (ie, special effects as well as marketing and promotion, which i suspect we wont have to worry about, if this film as a big of a deal as everyone is making it to be). It's also good news Seagal's "Clementine" was press worthy enough to be covered by a major film site like "moviehole"

Advertising ain't cheap...

Listen just to clue some of you in: the promotion and advertising is very costly. Depending on the time (i.e. how often the ad is to run during prime time) of the ad and the spread of area that the ad is to cover (i.e. coast to coast or in specific metropolitan areas, etc.), such can run up to as much as $10 million in costs.

In my opinion, size of budget is no indication of whether a film will be good or bad. There are plenty of awful films that have cost a fortune; League of Extraordinary Gentleman is the first one that springs to mind, oh and Battlefield Earth.

I'm sure all Steven's early films were low budget, and they are the best thing he has ever done. I just hope the budget is spent on a developing a decent script and some good action scenes, rather than special effects.

The bugdet is more important then it may seem. Think of Seagal's last few movies. "BOTB" was pretty good, but in order for him to make it to theatres, the movie needs to be better visually. It looked good, dont get me wrong, but if you werent familiar with his movies, you would still be able to tell a difference between "Exit wounds" and his newer films. They just have that DTV feel. Plus, if they do use this money for marketing, I dont see how it wont do well.

I think Hard To Kill was a very low budget, but wow...
And I was soooooo happy with Belly, I thought it was really great...
I didn't get the feeling that it was cheap or inferior at all, but then I am
not that focused on the same things in the film, I guess...
We all see things very differently...

Good news indeed but I hope they spent the money for some good plot actors and fight scenes not some corny Seagal stuntman doing the fighting and no computer animiated fights.

I said it before, and I'll say it again

Very True, littledragon. The budget should definiltey not be wasted on salary's of terrible actors. It should be put to good use with an intelligent script and heavy marketing promotion. I cannot stress this enough

Its funny though, cuz you have to admit hes got good people working for him too. How many other people would be able to convince a high budget to studio like Warner Bros. to take a big money risk like this not once with "On Deadly Ground, and not twice with "Exit Wounds, but three times with "Into the Sun". Hes got a hell of an agent or lawyer or whoever who could do that must be good. Lets just hope this doesnt keep happening, because you only get so many chances in this business. Not that im complaining about his newer films, but if he has the chance to do it right, lets do it right, so we dont have to do it again.
