So there was an interview with halpin on a german page some weeks ago, heres my second, more detailed. translation of the important facts:
Q: You was involved in the Script of Today you Die, now as we know the movie has a lot of stock footage, what do you think about it?.
A: We knew that there would be some stock footage in it, but that the movie has so much stock footage we didn't know, Steven and i were surprised about that...
Q: You are also the writer of "Shadows of the Past" "Harvester" and Prince of Pistols, there are a lot rumors about this movies, can you tell us something about them?
A: Shadows of the Past will be in the present time, its a spy-movie. But im really looking forward to it, and i think Seagal-Fans will like it because there is a lot of Action and some good Hand-to-Hand Fights.
Harvester is a modern Sci-Fi-Story, it will be totally different but interesting for his Fans. I think it has definitely potential. But im not saying to much good things about it, because we never know how the movie looks at the end...
Q: How is your feeling at the moment about Shadows of the Past and Harvester, do you think they will be better then his actual dtv-movies, i personally think Submerged is one of his best movies in the last few years?
A: Submerged was one of the movies we made some corrections. But they didn't used most of the corrections. I think the success of Submerged belongs only to Anthony Hickox. He is great person, and he did everything he could to make a good movie.
About Shadows of the Past and Harvester. I think they will be a step forward comparing with his last movies. Because Screen Gems take more Time and Money to their projects than Nu Image. This is my opinion.
Q: For years, there are discussions about "Under Siege 3". When does someone writes a script???
A: I heard that already 2 million dollar were spend for the pre-production and first script drafts of Under Siege 3. Im not interested right now to be involved in this project, because as you know its in Production since 5 years, but i really would like to see it in cinema, im a big fan of this franchise.
Q: How is it to work with Steven Seagal?
A: Its a pleasure to work with Steven. We working really good together in writing scripts and so on.
Q: How big is the influence of Steven's Ideas in the scripts?
A: He has big influence. I tell him the ideas i ahve about the story and the characters, but he makes the decisions at the end.
Q: Decisions especially about the script?
A: Yes. But thats good. I mean hes responsible for the "product". I mean its at the biggest part his career, and not the career of the people involved. And i really have to say he's always right. He knows exactly what can work and what not.
Q: So now about Seagal, he makes so many movies right now, and actually i think he's not always putting a lot of effort into them, (voice dubbing, stunt-doubles and so on...) why he's not making movies that better fits to his age?
A: I think this is more a decision for the studio than for him. The give green-light for productions they think could be successfull. As for all actors the age is a factor. But i think he's energy and efforts are not a problem. Im watching all his works and what he's doing. The Using of Doubles and Voice-Dubbing are decisions that the director and the studio makes. I think this has nothing to do with Seagal. I personally knew that he knows that the fans didn't like the doubles, and that he will do everything that the doubles are not a thread in the next projects.
