Is the big guy signing up for another re-make of the classic Yojimbo?

Got a e-mail from a friend in china telling me that seagal is close our thinking about signing on to do a Yojimbo re-make! Don´t know how many of this is true our if it´s just a dream from his side. But it would be nice to see seagal walking around talk japonese and show his samurai moves and akido skills one more time!

If seagal are going to do any new film do this one seagal and the Yacuza re-make by without kurupt. Just clone the Yacuza original with late robert michum and put in some aikido moves.

I think that with 2 great movies like this that steven at last can get out of the DTV franchise.

Well, I saw Yakuza with Robert Mitchum, and I kept thinking what a great vehicle a remake of it would be for Steven. What we're getting is "Into the Sun", which looks more like a Japanese version of Romeo Must Die/Romeo and Juliet than anything else.

TD,you are actually getting this premise mixed up with the other Yakuza that is currently in production.

Peace,

As long as they keep him away from all that wirework

it doesn't matter and it wouldn't be that bad -

I thought Romeo Must Die was a great picture with Jet Li: well choreographed, the story was alright, the acting was decent, and I didn't mind the wire work in that movie in particular (Cradle to the Grave had many scenes where the wire work ruined it). Whatever Yakuza resembles, I will still watch it.

Romeo Must Die

Well I liked Romeo Must Die too, it was a good taster for Exit Wounds. But I really hated the wire work in it, with characters (especially Jet Li) jerking around awkwardly in mid-air while fighting. It just looked stupid in parts and spoiled the fight scenes. Wire-work always does, it makes fights look bad and very fake. Jet Li can do all that stuff himself so why the wires? Happily Seagal has stayed away from them (with the exception of Exit Wounds) but gladly Exit Wounds didn't use them as much as the previous Barthowiak (or however you spell it) film. I wasn't too keen on Cradle 2 The Grave, scenes where a guy ran up a wall and Jet Li jumped down the side of a building were just plain daft.

Andrej Bartkowiak :=)

what are you talking about?!! the side of the building thing was cool - noone has ever done such a thing or thought of such a thing to even attempt doing (although I think Jackie Chan would also be up for anything)
Jet Li could never jump as high to do the sort of 'tricks' he did with the wire work, and the final scene looked amazing! Seagal did wire work for everything after Exit Wounds (except for Foreigner which was ... I'm not getting into it).

Again! I got caught off-topic (sorry if that bothers anybody)
take it easy...

RMD playing now...

... talking about Romeo Must Die - it's playing now (8.00pm) on TBS Superstation (Atlanta's Superstation, because I think there are about 4 different ones).

Sensei always looks more natural than anyone else I have seen, even with some wirework...He's got style that's for sure...When he uses wires I can't tell...
I just watched The Glimmer Man on TBS, and saw commercials for "The One" which was following it, stars Jet Li, and it looks soooo totally fake...
One look and you know what type of performance it's going to be...
Plus, people can say stuff all they want about Sensei's acting, but at least
he sounds charming and witty when delivering his lines unlike those other dorks...
Just look at the competition...
Arnold's accent interferes so much, it makes you wonder what he's saying, and Stallone is even worse to me...
Name one who is impressive, I honestly can't...
Steven CAN act, no matter what people want to say...

Back on topic, I hope he does the remake, I think I saw the one with Mitchum
and it would be good to see an updated version with a handsome guy in the lead...
Steven is perfect, ruggedly handsome and tough looking...:)

Romeo Must Die

No worries but I just thought the wire-work spoiled it totally, the final fight scene was good until the wires kicked in and the last shot where they both jump in the air at each other and Jet Li kicks the guy in the head just looked so phoney and stupid I was laughing out loud - the bad guy's body twists around in mid air like he's some kind of rigid puppet stuck on a string. The football field and water hose scenes were just as bad, wires are spoiling fight scenes and making them look ridiculous just like miniatures can spoil action scenes (anyone who's scene Van Damme's Derailed will agree). The bit where Jet Li kicks about four guys' faces while in mid-air was particularly bad. As with Cradle 2 The Grave the bit where he jumps down the side of the building has been done many times before, Seagal himself did something similar towards the end of Glimmer Man to much better and more believable effect. The end fight wasn't particularly special or memorable considering Jet Li and Mark Dacascos were both involved. Wires are fast becoming as bad as CGI in my list of pet movie hates (PS. Seagal definitely didn't use any in The Foreigner, there weren't any action scenes that called for it).

Takeshi

I've heard he's very good Lee but sadly the only things I've seen him in are the Challenge TV gameshow Takeshi's Castle and the simple awful Johnny Mnemonic!

fluidity is one of the things to look for ...

Lotussan - Jackie Chan can act and he sounds good doing it too (probably 'cause he sounds funny saying things but in a good way - unlike Stallone to which I'd have to agree - he sounds like he's beeing tortured every time he opens his mouth ... Arnold's accent is funny but he can't help it - the Austrian nature is very dominating on the vocal chords).

I still love Jet Li's movies - he can work with wires better than anybody else (Matrix used too much CGI so it had to look good for Keanu). Even with the wires, there are not many who can do such stunts (in the Matrix trilogy, all of the moves done by main characters looked too choppy with no fluidity of motion that the martial art requires).

The Matrix

Well to be honest that's why I'm part of a rare breed who really hate The Matrix films, the fight scenes are fristrating as hell with people flying around in the air and doing hits and kicks which just look awkward and unrealistic. I know that's meant to kind of be the point of it but all the wire-work just turned me off it, and Keanu Reeves as a martial arts hero is the biggest joke of all.
