Is the big guy signing up for another re-make of the classic Yojimbo?

Who said Keanu Reeves was a martial arts hero?:D

I heard a great story about Keanu Reeves, I have no idea whether it is true or not, but here it is.

After seeing The Matrix, Woody Harrelson, who considers himself fairly hard, saw Keanu Reeves in a bar and said that he didn't believe KR had learnt any real Kung Fu for the movie. An argument ensued and they ended up outside. KR kicked the Sh*t out of Woody!

Beat Takeshi Kitano

I've heard he's very good Lee but sadly the only things I've seen him in are the Challenge TV gameshow Takeshi's Castle and the simple awful Johnny Mnemonic!

I'm a huge fan of Takeshi Kitano. The new Zatoichi film is superb. I think this is his first attempt at martial arts though. The film Hani Bi ("Fireworks") is in my all time top 10. I'd also recommend Violent Cop and Sonatine. They are pretty violent (in a nasty sort of way) but nothing that Seagal fans can't handle!

it's only typical of Seagal to make violence in movies

You should watch Matrix Revisited (the 'behind the scenes' of how they came about making their franchise) ... Keanu actually did learn Kung-Fu. He was trained for a long time. I wouldn't call him a master or anything, but he is no beginner - I'd say he's a bit more than slightly above that.

Seagal's movies though have violence of any other action movie. There's nothing too gory or grotesque or scarry relative to others (that Nia in HPD was violently sexy; other than that - the most violence probably came out of Marked for Death seeing as Seagal's STVs are all bloody-CGI-violent).

Keanu

Keanu Reeves couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. A heavy blow from Seagal's ponytail would be more than enough to knock him to the ground.

Keanu vs. Seagal? why would you even think of something like that

... man Steve come on and be real! I'm not ******* saying that Keanu would ever dare and take on someone of Seagal's calibre or even any other black belt around. I was just saying that he did get legit training - no phonies :=)

Keanu

It still doesn't mean he's any good though, a few weeks training does not a competent fighter make. Keanu's spent years learning music too and his band sucks. I think his old buddy Rufus from Bill and Ted could take him out. Keanu Reeves and the martial arts are like petrol and water, they just don't mix.

music - that's different (I didn't even know that Keanu was into that)

music is a preference thing
For example: Steven Seagal's music ain't no cup of tea of mine, although some tunes (the ones without any lyrics to them - not to say that Seagal doesn't have a good voice or anything, it's just that his voice I would say should better stick to vocalizing his characters in action movies ... no musicals in the future please so no repeat of John Travolta :=) I can listen to.

hobbies - respectable

Music is another Steven Seagal's hobby, and I respect that very much. I gues that's why he didn't release that CD of his, as he just wanted to keep his hobby fun without any critics sitting on his back.

By the way, when I accidentally saw a music clip with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John I nearly started ripping hair off my head...After all Steven Seagal absolutely rocks!
And what for Keanu Reeves and his band(which is called Dogstar as I read it somewhere),he doesn't sings,he's on the bass, but they say he writes good original lyrics.Never heard any of them their songs though...

Tora, I have heard him sing. You're not missing anything, believe me. :D However, he's not bad, really. Sort of like Bruce Willis and Dan Balushi. All guys who really love the music, really love to sing, but really just don't have great voices. ;)

But then, neither does Willie Nelson, nor did Johnny Cash have what could be called great singing voices, but I love them. :D They have what's called style. ;)

Perhaps I could listen to that band of his somewhere...so at least I would know what top say when someone else says something else about music.
But you're damn right. There are lots of guys who rock without good vocals(well,I still believe that Freddy Mercury was sort of an exception).
