I'm new around here, but posted at the message board at the official site for quite a while a LONG time ago. I went by Bodhi75 then. It's been at least a couple of years. I had some serious health issues (still dealing with daily), and the greater portion of my life came to a screeching halt. Now however things have gotten back to some semblence of normalcy, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things again. I look forward to interacting with all of you on the board, and discussing Sensei's movies, philosophies, etc.

Welcome to the forum, Kaida. :) Glad to hear you're getting your life back on track, but if you're looking for "normalcy", I'm not sure you're in the right place. :D But, if you're looking for friendly fellow fans of Steven Seagal's, you are in the right place! :)

"Friendly fellow fans." ;) I like that! :D

Thank you all so much for such warm welcomes!

I've been doing much better lately with my health. I have a condition called chronic costochondritis, which is basically chronic inflamation of the cartlidge of the ribcage. It's VERY painful at times and makes even getting a hug, or taking a deep breath, a major undertaking. There's no cure...only treatment, and most doctors don't even have the foggiest as to what triggers it. Most cases of it clear up by themselves and never reccur. Some cases however, such as mine, become very severe and persistant. They've tried treating me with Vioxx, Celebrex, and Bextra...all of which I had reactions to. Then site point injections...which were nasty, injections of morphine and steroids directly into the ribcage. Finally I told them to quit poking and prodding me...I just couldn't take anymore.

Top all of this with reproductive problems that led to major surgery (at 27)...the result of which was no babies for me, and a massive abdomenal hernia thanks to an idiot doctor. Three months after my surgery he was fired from the hospital because they refused to pay his malpractice insurance any more...and then said they wouldn't take responsible action for the state I was left in. There is still the likelyhood of at least two more major surgeries in my future...but for now things are faring well.

I've turned to the Dharma to help deal with alot of issues that have resulted from all of this. Meditation and breathing techniques help with the pain. I've also taken up Tai Chi (non strenuous and non stressfull) and changed my diet to try and maintain myself, both of which have helped tremendously in many different ways. It's not been easy, but I know that there is purpose and lesson in it all, and at the end of the day that makes it much easier.

Hi Kaida, welcome on the Steven unofficial forum :).

I'm sorry to hear about your pain :(. I know that you mean because I've a disease who touch my joints (particularly the elbows and the left shoulder actually) and suffer a lot myself. It's not funny everyday, but I keep my eyes on God (I'm Christian :) ) and trying to not use my joints too hardly, that help me a lot ;)
