Absolutely agree about TJ. The first episode of season 2 was pretty good, but after that it goes downhill with weird stories. I also prefer Steven to see as a police detective instead of a undercover agent. Maybe that’s because I like classic police series like “The Mentalist”.
Roel Reiné could be a good choice, although it seems that Reiné works mostly with much lower budgets nowadays. According to his audio commentary of the entertaining “Seal Team Eight” (which was filmed in 3 weeks), the movie cost the half of “Death Race: Inferno”, and that one had a estimated budget around 6,5 million according to imdb. I think it has a lot to do with his directing skills that people always think his movies have higher budgets than they actually have.
Seagals movies probably had about the same (if not higher) budgets, at least according to imdb. That’s why I am always saying Seagal could anytime try to work with Reiné again.
Of course “Cypher” could be very interesting for Reiné, but if the budget rumors are true they maybe can get another skilled action director who works in a 15-25 budget range and fits with the style of a Seagal movie? Although I actually realize that this list of fitting directors probably is pretty short? Any ideas?
