Great pics, Suzi! Especially that first one. ;)
Notice? No rings on his finger. :D

I saw the other thread, where they were promoting his music video on TV. It's great to see him getting so much publicity and recognition.

Thanks, Suzi. :)

Seagal swaps swords for guitar
1.56PM, Wed Oct 26 2005

Hollywood action star Steven Seagal has surprised fans by releasing a blues music album.

The actor went to Bangkok, Thailand, to promote his first album, Songs From The Crystal Cave, and single, Girl It's Alright.

Seagal revealed that music was not a new medium for him, saying he first started playing at the age of five.

The star of films such as Under Siege and The Patriot said it was time to let people know about his other passion.

"Just because some people don't know, but I've been playing the music since I was five years old and I've no intention of stopping movies right now but I have intention of letting the world know about my music," he said.

Seagal's new career has got off to a promising start, with his single reaching number one in the charts in Thailand and France.

Speaking in Bangkok, Seagal proclaimed his love for Asia.

"It's my dream and my hope that it'll sell well in the countries that I love. I'm from Asia, I was raised in Asia. I love Thailand and I'm hoping it'll sell well in particular in Asia," he said.

The music video for the single Girl It's Alright was made in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Fantacy world here we go again - he is not from Asia and he was not raised in Asia. He never even travelled outside the USA until his late teens. I wonder if he can remember who he really is !!!

heee :p but Steven does this always. When he was Romania he said he was raised in New Orleans, he went to Russia he said his ancestors were coming from Russia or places nearby.. I don't want to critize him but may be he wants to say "I am citizen of the world, I am very close all countries and people" huh ??? :D

I don't want to think else wise !!! :D

I think it is possible that the journalits were not accurate enough. Maybe Seagal said that he became came to Asia as a child and became an adult here. It was the place where his thoughts and mind became mature.

It always amazes me how, in the face of outright falsehood, people still find ways of rationalising his untruths, just because it's Steven.

God, he is in the UK for two months next year, will he discover royal ancesters, or will he remember he was here as a child? NO, he was not here as a child or anywhere else, he never left the USA at all, until he made a quick exit at about 17/18/19???? depending on what story you read -he either graduated verrrrrrry young, or .... could he have been a draft dodger????? I very much doubt even he remembers fact from fiction now!!

I think he just ment, that he spent a lot of time in Japan. After all he did study aikido in Japan, he married his first wife in Japan and he owned his first business in Japan.

And he has shot several films in asia, he speaks fluent Japanese.

So give the guy a break when he says he's from asia.

Peace

If that's what he meant, then he should say so, instead of obfuscating the truth. The truth is, he was born in Lansing, Michigan, was raised in California, went to high school and college in California, and didn't go to Japan until he was in his early twenties. His mother was Italian, his father, Jewish, possibly Russian. Perfectly respectable if humble roots. Those are the facts - why is he ashamed of them?

As well as the falsehoods about his past, he also says this: "It's my dream and my hope that it'll sell well in the countries that I love."

Notice he's only touring Asia and Europe (and this after categorically stating he wasn't going to tour). What does that say about his feelings about the land where he was born?

As a fan I suppose I have to blink and look the other way if I'm not going to get hollered at by other fans for pointing out the obvious (I restrained myself admirably the last time he told this whopper, which was in an interview around the time he was shooting Into the Sun, and incidentally, his mother was still alive at the time and one can't help wondering what she thought of his complete fabrication about his roots and antecedents); he may have reasons why he wants to disassociate himself from his past. Fair enough; but don't make up stories about it. Just tell the truth about how he feels now.

It diminishes him emotionally and spiritually every time he does it, and by extension, it diminishes those who have loved and supported him his whole life, not only us fans in his professional life.

Steven is a D star in the US, and sadly that is of his own making. Hollywood is a hard place and a place where you just can't keep secrets, and most of stevens should be kept!!!. Steven tells blatant lies, he is difficult to work with, he has a GROSSLY inflated ego, he is unreliable and unprofessional, all the things Hollywood won't tolerate. With this reputation he knows he will get panned across the US and is not prepared to take the risk. Europe and Asia are so much easier, it is amazing how many ex C/D list actors and singers from the UK are very big in Europe and Asia, particularly Japan and can make an excellent livling. Steven has projected himself well in Asia, and is making a great deal of money from this market, but make no mistake if the US suddenly opened up to him, he would be back there like a shot.
I loved all his earlier films, but the latter ones made purely to make big bucks, are done on almost an armature basis primarily for the Asian market where that quality is still for the moment, acceptable.
The music industry, particularly the senior rock artists and Blues people are far far more tolerant and accepting, the general rule being, that if you live the music and can play, you are OK. With that in mind I think you will find that while not within a planned tour, Steven will play several concerts both here and in the US as a supporting guest to some of the more respected names. This is a sensible, and hopefully successful way of bringing down barriers built up by bad reputation and disasterous films and may gain him some respect with the US/UK public and critics.
