Is there any video's available of Isoyama Shihan. I think he is just so awesome he is on another planet in terms of Aikido. How practical and realistic does his techniques look. He is the best Japanese Sensei I have ever see, because all the others I have watched all look as though their Aikido is like "taking a screwdriver to a gun fight" Ha Ha....

Thanks Aiki Jones for the reply concerning his Uke, respect or what!!!!!!!!

Yes I speak Japanese but my fees for translation are huge I charge £1000 an hour.

By the way has anyone been able to track down the movie clip of Isoyama taken from 1983 All Japan Demo that was on Aikido Journal. I want it so bad because we can stop these stupid polotics if we all work together

Sincerely

you are so fortunate to ever see this. the only video i have of him is the All JAPAN 95 where he performs with matsuoka sensei and some of his students. i dont know if where talking about the same video where in the end he waves his hands to japanese girls on the bleacher.

Wow!!

the AWJ (Aikido World Journal) had some 10th dan masters wonder what they did to recieve such honor then? is it based on years of service? because when Steven worked ATL the intro says hes a 6th Dan in Aikido now hes a 7th when did that happen ?I was always curious myself.

I am looking for traditional recognized dojo okayed by Hombu in the US any suggestions I dont want the church basement or Y type Aikido but ther authentic as Steven used with spiritual routine with rei (bowing at beginning) I actually had a school that told me they did not bow in the beginning cause it was a church and they couldnt do that sorry conflict of interest on that one) I want it with the respect it deserves a couple of places skipped the bowing in ceremony and thats so disrespectful like I said I want traditional like it is in ATL to be correct not open to political or religious dogma to change as they see fit but as Osensei meant it to be..spiritual is a part of it

a point on the Y , I have nothing against it personally if thats what you want but I spent a considerable amount and 3 year of TKD academy and wanted an Aikido dojo same level I am used to high masters (mines 9th Dan) and its what we get used to thats all. But all BB are not the same a BB of the Y cannot fairly compare to a BB from an Academy suchg as mine 9th dan usually dont teach the Y. and there is truth to you get what you pay for the Y I left before my current master was 4th dan whyd I go? back then h was in so many tournaments (the pay kind) he hardly had time for us as a class and handed us down to his 2nd dan..so I went my 9th dan said at their age mid 20s that was common he had nothing to prove and is best there is he has always taught his own class..rare indeed!

Arigato Gozaimasu Thanks!

oops!

my grandmaster had nothing to prove because he had been there and done that including a few visits to the Olympics (real ones). That didnt come out right for some reason. Doesnt do tournaments anymore be awsome if he did he was known for his very high leaps and high kicking. some of his younger pictures 60s/70s were truly awsome.

So for Aikido I wanted some school that shared my spiritual vision as much as I did the last one with the ceremony without just isnt Aikido (no makoto/sincerity respect) if you have resservations about if bowing to be offensive why offer it in a church anyway. Steven already mentioned the bowing is an act of respect not religion. I hadf one of those church nuts in my TKD class their mother had a fit when we bowed to my master, she said her son was a christian and it was against their religion to do thsat to anyone but God..Im like huh? (my master is a strong christian so this was a shock to him too wait it gets better)She said whon taught you English our missionaries right? (hes silent) who taught you our religion our missionaries right(again silent) and yopu want us to bow to you? (no answer).

I ha to say something cause he wouldnt..I said he learned English in school its required thee but you are not required to learn Korean here , also his parents were christians when he was born and bowing is respect no respect no class okay? he bows or he goes its as simpole as that. Kid must have wanted to stay he survived his trial by fire he bowed lasted 2 of 3 years so far..sometimes you just have to tell people things.

SAS Guardian Angel, I don't wan't to offend you in any way, but It's really really hard for me to understand what you are trying to say sometimes. Your spelling is OK, but you don't separate sentances, by commas (,) or end points (.). It seems like you are writing right from your thoughts without proof-reading what you are typing.
Don't expect people to understand your abreviations (for example BB, Y-school etc.)
I don't.
Relax... and proof-read what you are typing, and more people are going to understand and follow your thoughts.
