The Seagal guy on MAD TV

I think we talked about this before, but there is a guy on the show MAD TV (Comedy Central, as well as other channels) that does these impersonations of SS in different sketches as part of his routine. The comedian's name is Will Sasso, he's the big guy. I'm asking because although I don't find the guy all that funny, I am a SS completist, and in a way this is SS related material. So I would like to get as many of them as possible.

So can someone please keep an eye out for these SS related sketches and give an advance heads up for future shows? does anyone have a TV guide where it mentions which shows have the Seagal sketches?

Hi, Disciple. "Detective Serena", at your service! ;) I found a rerun scheduled to appear this month on the Comedy Channel, and some info on the past episodes where those skits appeared. I do have a guide that lists what the upcoming week's scheduled skits are on the current Mad TV show on Saturdays. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know.

Steven Seagal appears on ``The Tonight Show'' to promote his new movie.

Suzi, just I'm certain so you understand properly - it is NOT really Steven Seagal that is on this show, it is an actor PRETENDING to be Steven Seagal and making fun of him - MAD TV is a "sketch" comedy show, something like Saturday Night Live (but infinitely more stupid - at least, I find it pretty unbearable to watch and have no idea what the attraction is, or how it's managed to stay on TV for so long).

So don't get all excited that it is our Big Man on this show - because it's not him.

I've never been a big fan of this kind of comedy, where the humour is externalised into openly making fun of someone else, especially if it's done to be nasty (which anything associated with MAD is, for sure). The only exception for me is Air Farce, but then, there's nothing else you can do with Canadian politics except make fun of it!

I Belong To Steven
The stuff is pure disrespectful trash, why waste your time on it, disciple?
We should honor the man, not support that kind of smut...
But if you feel it's related to him, I hope you find what you're looking for...
I personally don't think the guy who's doing the impressions was like him in the least, no-one is...

the thing is, I don't think the SS stuff is like that. I haven't seen many of them, I just know of it, but from what I've seen the guy seems to be a fan of SS and is just doing some good natured humor. I could be wrong though, would need to watch more to really decide. I have watched other episodes of MAD Tv though, and I have to say it isn't all that funny, definitely a step down from Saturday Night Live (which itself hasn't been funny in years).

Thanks for the info Serena, will check those out. You should start up your own private detective agency or something! :D

So I watched this show again thanks to a reminder from Serena...

My memory on the show was a little hazy, but after watching the show again properly I have to say the SS impersonator really isn't that good. He's kind of a funny guy when he's doing other skits, but the SS stuff isn't all that funny and it's not even a good impersonation (I can do a better one myself).

Are you kidding me? The sheer rediculouse-ness of the whole Seagal Mad TV routines is hilarious. Even if Sasso didn't nail Seagal to your specifications, one must admit that the sketches themselves tickle the old funny bone. And I do think that Sasso nails Seagal, if at least in that kind of satirical way that takes one or two prominant characteristics of a person and over-emphasizes them for comedic effect, the method common to all impersonation-comics. Funny stuff, that mad TV Steven Seagal parody, funny stuff. If you think otherwise, feel free to whine about it, I don't care. Oh, and one more thing, if any of you have a problem with Seagal being made fun of on nationally syndicated television and feel that it is "desresepectful to the grand sensai" just remember: there is not such thing as bad publicity.

Overemphasizing is for the amateurs. Anyone can exaggerate their favorite actor's way of speaking or a few mannerisms. The best and funniest mimics IMHO are the ones who can get the subtleties. I know of some good British ones, not so many from here.... Although Kevin Spacey is EXCELLENT, if you've ever seen his guest shot on Saturday Night Live.

Haha, yeah. Spacy is a veritable god. His Walken is fan-friggin-tastic.
