Ahaaahahahahahahahahahah!

Good reference to that classic video review show "Vids", which used to be shown on Channel 4's 4-Later slot. Presented by Nige Buckland and Stef Gardner, this was probably the most anarchic and ******* funny review show I have ever seen in my life and was almost like a sitcom with the "Bottom" like slapstick they used to engage in. Also while their reviews were often vitriolic they too were pretty acurate.

One question. Where the hell did their show go to, I have'nt seen them on Channel 4 for nearly three years.

Peace.

MMCK - damn man, I can't believe you knew where that quote was from! I absolutely loved that show - it was awesome, and I liked the way they always included the obligatory porn film straight after the ad break as well as some obscure Japanese martial arts or horror movie! Nigel and Stef were both cool in their own way - Stef as the quietly mad Scottish hippy and Nige as the completely insane Welsh alcoholic. I wish Channel 4 would bring it back, as it was my favourite show ever! I agree that their reviews - while tinged with pure madness, were also some of the most accurate and intelligent available.

Fox - it was Channel 4. And the Scottish hippy was a man. And 'sheep' jokes are usually associated with the Welsh. But apart from that, good post.

Believe it or not Glimmer, I actually have the early 2000 series of Vids taped and have watched it again recently and laughed my******* arse off at it. I know what you mean about the types of films they chose to review -: They would start with something mainstream like say "The Mummy", then they would move onto a ultra violent, obscure martial arts film like "Baby Cart At The River Styx" then after the break they would review some Z list porn video like "Learning To Lap Dance". LOL

I am glad I am not alone in thinking that both of them are undiscovered comic geniuses and would love to see them make another series of "Vids". But knowing Channel 4 they would commision some crap like Big Brother 27 before showing something half way decent like show. According to a website related to it, Nigel was apparently trying to start a Stand-up career and as for Stef, he was supposed to be trying to set up an art gallery business. Channel 4 does seem a long way away indeed, although I think Nige would be good as a stand-up comic.

You can actually find out more about them and "Vids" at the website below and its a scream.

MMCK - I do believe it mate, and what's more, I have two almost complete series of the show taped from back in 2000 and early 2001, I think. Altogether I have around 15-20 episodes. It is awesome and I would love to see another series - I think they only did 3 or 4 didn't they?

I saw Nige on the Sci Fi channel last night. He was reviewing "The Matrix Reloaded" and he was wearing shades and had his hair dyed black like Keanu Reeves. He still has'nt lost his touch for reviewing films humourosly, and said some funny critical statements regarding Keanu's acting ability. He also opinined that the look of the city of Zion in the film resembled an old Duran Duran music video. LOL

Though where the hell is Stef?

Peace.

Unfortunatly, Nige has'nt his own show so to speak, but he has a five minute slot on the Sci-Fi Channel called "Movie Review" where he reviews one of the latest blockbusters recently out at the cinema. I saw this particular slot last night at 12.45am just before the channel was for airing a film. It is'nt listed in the Sky listings, so it must just be something the channel uses as a filler between programmes.

They should give him his own review show though.

Another thing Glimmer, did you ever see the short series called "Vids Does Jackie Chan". It was aired around four years ago when Channel 4 were doing a 4 week season of Chan films every Saturday night ( they included "Police Story 2", "Police Story 3", "Project A II", and "Young Tiger". The Vids boys did a five minute slot before each film, introducing it and told us a little about his life and career. It was funny as hell with Nige demonstrating the outragous stunts that Chan engages in (all done in low budget way with a dummy replacing Nige) lol. They also did a competition each week, where they gave away Chan memorabilia, dvd players etc and I remember this classic pearler from Nige "We will randomly pull the correct answer from out of Jackie's sweating ballbag" hahahahahhahahaaaaa!

Did you see this short series?

Peace.

I did mate - damn, Vids was awesome! They seemed to use 'sweating ballbag' jokes a lot! Hahahahaha!!! I am going to dig out all my old copies and watch them all day! Did you ever see the Blair Witch episode? Hahaha... madness! I thought the stunts were awesome, man! I remember one time they reviewed a film called the lady on the bridge or some sh*t like that and at the very end you see a close-up of Nige's face at the top of a high bridge and he shouts to Stef: "I'd ******* love to jump man!" Then he 'jumps' off the bridge yelling "NYYYYYYYEEEEAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHHHHH!!!" at the top of his voice and you see a crumpled dummy hit the deck which quickly cuts to a close up of him on the floor and he says something like "I seem to have damaged my fragile neptunamer!" or something similar! I wish they would bring that programme back, man. I'll have to watch the Sci-Fi channel now. Maybe if we e-mail channel 4 we might get an update...

Take it easy man.

Glimmer, it was probably the funniest show I've seen on T.V and the fact that they were not mainstream and were shown on Channel 4's graveyard shift slot, probably added to their appeal in my opinion. You just could'nt wait to tune in each week to see what new madness they could come up with. For example, do you remember Nige's mad Welsh half brother Lingus? Played by Nige he was a funny, if perverted, b*stard!

I also remember at the start of one episode Nige was ranting about the hype quotes on the front of video boxes. Here it goes-:

"Look at the plethora of hype written on the front of these video boxes.(lifts and reads one) A whiteknuckle rollercoaster that will have you spewing in your lap.(Looks at another) A great plot, with a twist...... (starts sniggering at the camera) that 'll have you sh*tting in your pants!" LOL

We should stormtroop Channel 4 headquarters and demand they give them back their old show or else they'll get an alashapalood of artillery up their youth trend conscious holes!

Peace.

Oh sh*t... I'd forgotten about Lingus! AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! Do you remember when they killed him and he came back to life in the style of one of the zombies from Dawn Of The Dead?! The way they killed him was the funniest thing I ever saw, man! They twatted him in the face with a hammer and then Nige jumped up and down on his corpse! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
