When I say I am a Christian

WHEN I SAY I AMA CHRISTIAN
~by Carol Wimmer

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I was lost!"
"That is why I chose His way."

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride
I'm confessing that I stumble
Needing God to be my guide.

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak
And pray for strength to carry on.

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting I have failed
And cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I don't think I know it all
I submit to my confusion
Asking humbly to be taught.

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are too visible
But God believes I'm worth it.

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
Which is why I seek His name.

When I say, "I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority.
I only know I'm loved.

Thank You Lord for sending your one and only Son, Jesus Christ for our transgressions. John 3:16-17

The word Christian

I see that word getting tossed about lately. I just wanted to share that what I was taught and my understanding of the bible is that a Christian is a person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and asked God to forgive them of their sins.

John 3: 16 & 17

For God so loved the world that he gave is only begotten Son that who soever believeth in him shall not perish but have eternal life. He did not come into the world to condem it, but to save it.

Romans 3:21- 24: But God has shown us a different way to heaven- not bybeing good enough and trying to keep his laws, but by a new way (though not new, really, for the scriptures told about it long ago.) Now God says he will accept and aquit us- declare us "not guilty" if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way , by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or where we have been like. Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of god's glorious ideal; yet now God declares us "not guilty" of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins.

1 Peter 1: 18 &19: God paid a ransom to save you from the impossible road to heaven which your fathers tried to take, and the randsom he paid was not mere gold or silver, as you very well know. But he paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
