Great photos, Connie! I hope you don't mind - I downloaded them and lightened them up and I'm reattching them - now we can see you better!

By the way, what rank are you and how long have you been taking aikido? I think you must have told us once, a long time ago, but I've forgotten!

Excellent, Connie!! Congratulations on everything you've accomplished so far in Aikido. :) Thank you for sharing these pictures with us--it's nice to see you "in action". :D You should be proud of yourself, Connie--and we're proud of you. :) Good luck on your green belt! Keep up the good work.

What form of aikido are you taking? Aikikai or Yoshinkan? I ask because I am taking aikikai and we do not have coloured belts - only white belts and black belts, with different levels in each.

By the way, you look very skillful! I am proud of you!

Thank you

Thank you all for the kind words....
I don`t know what kind of Aikido this is. I only know that my theather takes lessons from the son of Usheba. So I am the 3 th in line of Aikido. Well we have the coloured belt for the children so they know what rank you are in.

That would be Aikikai!!!!!! But lets remember, Aikikai is an umbrella Orginization for different styles/federations. So it may not be any particular "style"!!!

The most important thing in aikodo and in life is to be one perfect man, defens yourself and your familly with compassion to oponent.Save your body and your spirit, soul, goust. There is one story, one man got the water from a spring. There was evil snake in there close to his mouth. He tought one of us must die.The snake fall down dead. This riddle is perfection in any art and in aikido.

TD - Most aikikai affiliated clubs and dojo does not have colored belts, but some do. There is no rule (about colored belts) only local ones. E.g at aikikai hombu dojo in tokyo there are only black and white belts. Also the people that trained aikido 50-60 years ago only had black or white belts and brought that custom with them when they spread around the world. Some, however, applied the more local custom of colored belts (e.g. in karate and judo).

Dear All.
We use colord belt so the sensei can see what you can. we have a lot of new students. And it is also for the littele one 9 and 10 years old. And the young ones comes to you to ask thinks when the sensei is busy. So you are teaching too and you learn also when you tell the young and new ones. And that is what i like to do.
I am the highist woman in our team and that what make me proud.

We too have the colored belt system. However we do not place much regard to the belts (that belt can't save your life) only to show where the individual is currently at (testing technique ability). And that is awsome Connie that you are where you are, Aikido is a lifelong journey and one that you seem to take seriously, which I wish we could see more of from other people!!!

It also takes time to earn a Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the belt system goes: White, Blue, Purple, Brown, Black, 9 Degrees, Red for Grandmaster.

It takes an average of 8-10 years to get a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu than opposed to a 3-6 years in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Tang Soo Do, Judo, etc...
