Tora - regarding the higher price of VHS vs DVD - I have noticed this too, but only on certain movies, and the answer is simple - DVD is the future and DVD manufacturers want you to buy DVD players and DVD's, so they increase the price of VHS recordings which will put you off buying them and con you into buying 'cheaper' DVD's. Manufacturing a DVD is a far quicker and more cost-effective process than manufacturing a VHS, but you actually purchase a DVD at a greatly inflated price in terms of what it actually costs to produce it. In other words, the mark-up price of a DVD is far greater than the mark-up price of a VHS in terms of profit made by the manufacturer. Soon VHS will go the same way as vinyl did when CD's first came on sale - it will become obselete. Recordable DVD is already here and Blue Laser DVD is just around the corner, which means clearer pictures, better sound and more disc storage capacity. If any of that **** means anything to you. It sure doesn't mean anything to me - I just want to watch cool movies regardless of their format and preferably at the lowest price possible.
