I came across this while looking at photos of Steven...He talks about the Genghis Khan movie...

Genghis Khan: Beijing Star Daily talked with Steven Seagal about his upcoming biopic about the warlord: "We hope to shoot it early next year. At the moment we're trying to round out a cast. I'll be playing Khan, and we've got a great lot of other actors to play some of the smaller roles. In some respects, this will be the epic film I've never been able to do before. And We're hoping to fill a lot of the roles with local actors to make the film authentic. Genghis Khan was a political and military genius. And it was not always that way, after his father was poisoned to death, many detested his appointing as chief. But this man had such a way about him, and spoke truths that his people hadn't heard before. Pretty soon three followers turned into three billion followers".

The whole article is here, but it all is not so nice...

Sad isn't it?

Simply raving jealousy I'd say...

I mean he's got so much going for him...:)

I really just try to ignore it, but it bothers me...

You're Welcome, Amos...:)

I actually hoping he *doesn't* make Genghis Khan, if for no other reason than in my heart of hearts, I absolutely know he's going to be ridiculed for doing it, far more than he is now, and as a result, it will probably be his last foray into film making.

Seagal will be ridiculed by the mainstream press no matter what he does, so I say go ahead with the Genghis Khan project.

Too much ridicule, though, could be the final nail in the coffin - it could kill his career, permanently, stone cold dead.

Actors should never try to bring their pet projects to the screen. Didn't he learn anything from On Deadly Ground?

-TD, worrying that Genghis Khan is going to be as bad as Battlefield Earth

That's true, but I think he's going to get this one made no matter what the risk. Deep down I think he wants to be accepted as a "serious" actor, and he wants to win a major award (or at least be considered for one).

He's following the same path as Mel Gibson did with Braveheart. Although it might be an idea for him to do as Mel did, and do some Shakespeare first. I think King Lear could do with a bar room brawl scene. :D

Ugh. If he can't do what he wants then what's the point?
I mean a man like him isn't going to be a follower, so I'd say it's gonna be his way or no way, but I could be wrong...
Maybe it isn't all about the money or the kudos with him, maybe he just wants to do this movie because he is passionate about it...
I can understand passion...
My passion for him is an amazing thing...
I of course want his career to always be a success...
I guess we can only suggest things, but ultimately it's his life...
If I was ever the lucky woman he was sharing it with, I would still support ALL his decisions, call me old fashioned, but I don't think anyone should demean or try to rationalize someone elses artistic expressions
(I am not dissing you, or saying you are not supportive TD I know you want him to make only the best and most lucrative decisions, your post just brought this to mind)
I wish him everything good, that's all I know...
I hope if he does this film it comes out just like he has planned, and that it's a huge success...
ODG deserved way more credit than it recieved in my opinion...
Love and support, that's what I will always give to him...:)

Smile dammit!
Hmmm. It could well end up like "Druids" for Christopher Lambert and "Attilla The Hun" for Powers Boothe by going to video. You have to admire his guts to make it though.

Well in general I hate to see any actor not do a role in fear of how the public will welcome it.If it is something that he/she feels should be made-then go for it.

I admire everything about him! I am not saying he's perfect, I'm just saying that I like what I am seeing...
Even when he's called cocky and arrogant, I think I would just rather call him gusty and confident...:D

I would prefer to see him do US3 before Khan though if he is gonna do US3. I think he could make Khan a very big and violent epic though if done with a budget like the one mentioned and with a good director.

Well, he can look menacing at times, like the look on his face right after the car jump scene in Exit Wounds...

He looked so pissed...

Maybe because his knee got hurt, that's possible...

He should be a very convincing Khan...

He's a lot better looking, though...;)

Seagal needs to try other things, he getting older the "kickass an intire movie" thing is kinda dead to movie fans.(not to you and me of corse)
I think hes trying to give people another side of Seagal and Im all for it. When ever Seagal changes his style alittle he gets more fans. Like in Exit Wounds, a 50 year old white man hanging out with a popular young rapper, it hade never been done and it made $$ and fans. I think change is good for his career.
