I'd like to know what books members read about Dharma, Buddhism or other religions?

I have just bought several books, mostly to do with Zen Buddhism or Zen & the Martial arts etc.

I am saving one book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, until last as it is the largest, anyone read this book? If so, how has it affected your thoughts (if it has at all)

Any other books you'd recommend?

"The Art Of Living" by His Holiness The Dalai Lama has been suggested to me, and it seems he has many other books that you might find useful...

I also hear that books by : Thich Nhat Hanh are very good...

You know I am a newbie too, dear...So I hope this helps...

Also, maybe you could try a search of the online booksellers or Ebay...

The online sites even have little previews of the books...

There are also many places you can get free books...

Good luck on your Dharma path my dear freind! :)

Oh rats..someone asked.
Even though I stopped praying to God years ago, what I was taught from a child still sticks with me & when I began reading that book of the Living & Dying..just basically confused me.

Tell me where free books are available, please!!!
I found myself these days unable to buy books coz they've become so damn expensive.

FREE? You can't even find free books here very often. Libraries sometimes sell old books or places sell books to raise money-atleast that is here.

Well, now I can't even go to the city library coz I need to leave 200 kroons as a mortgage.Libraries ain't libraries anymore.

Something like that. You have to leave 200 kroons in order to be able to take books. It's necessary only for those who live outside the capital and since Maardu is a separate town we're missing out.Maardu library is really very poor.Even when I was at school I had to go to Tallinn librabries to take materials there coz there were unavailable here.
Well,as they say they return money after you return a book but it means that I have to keep extra 200 kroons each time I go the library...which is just incredible.

GUess they want to make sure they get their books returned..here they only have to pay a fine-which doesn't get the book returned

They are cracking down on that...I have a policy that says keeping something that isn't yours is wrong, so I don't even check them out! I don't even have a library card...I just go there and do my research...

I've no place to keep these books at home so I wouldn't be able to leave them for myself anyway.
