IMDB? I wouldn't believe it until I had read about it on a reputable site. And even then I wouldn't believe it until I read it in the press. And even then I wouldn't believe it until I heard about it on the news. And even then I probably wouldn't believe it.

Bronson 'on His Deathbed'

The family and friends of legendary actor Charles Bronson are gathering together after "The Dirty Dozen" star was given only days to live.

"Death Wish" star Brosnan has been fighting Alzheimer's Disease for the past two years, and suffered organ failure earlier this month.

Doctors tending to the 81-year old have told his family to prepare for the worst and say their last goodbyes to the star.

A relative tells a British paper, "(The Alzheimer's) is heartbreaking. He doesn't know he was an actor, let alone a big star."

The "Great Escape" actor's wife Kim is now making final preparations to bring him home to die as he requested.

A friend adds, "Charlie's wife Kim promised him she would honor his wish to let him die with dignity."

I don't think that Charlie ever fully recovered
from the death of Jill Ireland!
It is so sad to hear that he has that dreaded
desease!
God bless,

Yeah, that is sad news. My grandad suffered from Alzheimers' as well and it is a terrible, degenerative disease to witness a relative suffer from. I am a very big fan of Bronson and feel he never really was given his fair dues in Hollywood. He was the real deal in his tough guy roles and an actor who I feel inspired a lot of the action stars who come out of Hollywood in the 1980's. I would say the only action star who successfully inherited his mantle is our very own Steven Seagal.

May God be with you Charlie!

Peace.

Do you blame him? I'd want to forget everything if I married the woman he married...
And how come they never put out to the press he had contracted the diesease earlyer?

So the fact that he had Alzheimer's had not been released to the public previously, right? I know I hadn't heard anything about it before, but thought maybe I missed it.

This is very sad news, I wish him peace, and wish his family well...
Also isn't today the anniversary of Elvis Presley's death?
I never ever heard that he was even ill, certainly not that he had Alzheimers', only knew that Ronald Reagan has been struggling with it...
My grandfather's wife had it as well, very sad...
What's so bad about Jill Ireland, Xeo?
Or did you just mean he must have missed her terribly?
I think he will certainly be missed...

CHARLES BRONSON is one the most umder-rated actors of all time. Sure, he's been one of the highest paid, but critics usually slagged him off. Yet beneath the violence in his movies, he could also convince, that he was a mellow soul (something to which, he could convince as a liberal, turned vigilante, in DEATH WISH)
You got the idea, that he shone away from violence, yet when he hit the badguys.... he hit them hard. In interviews he stated to be opposed to violence, and hated the noise of gunfire. He had a lot more in common with his PAUL KERSEY character, that people know. Yet in a world without 'true' justice, he gave wish-fullfilment to millions, and took out all the 'cinematic' scum. Thus leading to real-life victims re-esserting their role in life, and fighting back. People forget the controversy when the original DEATH WISH was released.

Notable BRONSON favourites being:
DEATHWISH 1 to 5
TEN TO MIDNIGHT
MURPHYS LAW
KINJITE
FROM NOON TILL THREE
THE EVIL THAT MEN DO

To be honest i enjoyed all his movies, even the non violent roles (which people tend to forget, were many!) the guy is a cinema icon , and did lead the way for the strong silent action heros (a'la STALLONE/SCHWARZENEGGER/SEAGAL) so my heart goes out to him and his family. Charlie...you are a true star.

Regardless of the state of Bronsons memory, i (for one) will never forget him

Classic movie line:
"Do you believe in jesus?......you're gonna meet him!" (death wish 2)

peace

Dear Xeo,
Charles Bronson cannot be married to Barbara
Streisand because she is married to James Brolin,
I think...
Who is he currently married to?
I have no idea...

Hi, Lotus. I found this small clipping about Charles Bronson. I can't believe it's been 13 years since Jill Ireland died.

"Bronson has two children with his first wife, Harriet Tendler. He married actress and producer Jill Ireland in 1958, who had two sons with her first husband, David McCallum. One adopted son (Jason) died in 1989. He and Ireland had a daughter named Zuleika. Ireland died in 1990. Bronson married his third wife, Kim Weeks, in December, 1998."

Storm

Smile dammit!
Junior/Fox, Streisand is indeed married to James Brolin so get it right eh? Why don't you like who he was married to? If you meant Jill Ireland she was beautiful so get your eyes tested while you're at it!
I hope Bronson pulls through but there doesn't seem much hope.

Good post Lee, that summed him up perfectly. I agree he could have been a bigger star if it were not for the critics who constantly slagged him off. I really like the "Death Wish" films and found his portrayal of liberal minded Paul Kersey in the original, to be realistic and believable. He did'nt go all OTT when his wife and daughter were raped, instead he became introspective, cold and calculating. The film was made the more interesting by the fact that he never actually catches his wife's killers.

He is a genuine cinematic legend and like Storm I hope he does recover.

Other noteble Bronson films-:

* The Mechanic
* The Stone Killer
* Mr Majestyk
* Breakheart Pass

From "Mr Majestyk"

"You make sounds like your a mean little ass kicker, only I ain't convinced. You keep talking and I'm gonna take your head off!"

Peace.

I did'nt see anything wrong with Jill Ireland. Why did you not like her?

Secondly, the Alzheimers story was actually reported in the papers around two years ago, as I remember reading it.
