My experience in "Into the Sun"
Have any of you ever been in a movie set? Back when I was a film student at USC, I got to experience some being in a back of a movie set. Sometimes, I was an extra in couple of the movies such as, “Mr. Baseball”, “Memoirs of an Invisible Man”, and “Dying Young”. I also auditioned in couple of movies too, but I have a long history of choking under pressure.
Anyway, I had an opportunity to meet such actors as Robin Williams, Chevy Chase, Harrison Ford, Tom Selleck, and Julia Roberts. I got to see actors like Chevy Chase, Tom Selleck and Julia Roberts in action under the set. They seemed very serious about their work so I assumed that all Hollywood actors were that way.
Then Steven Seagal came to Japan, shooting the movie, “Into the Sun”. It’s been a long time since I was in a movie set and my friend invited me because he was doing volunteer work in helping out and doing some translation at the set with the Japanese crew. My friend is currently in a TV show in Japan and was looking for his 1st break in a Hollywood movie. I had experience being behind the set before so I learned to blend in and pretended I was part of the crew. I wanted to help out my friend so I did some eves-dropping where the directors were planning to set up the upcoming movie scene where my friend was about to get his 1st break. My friend was really excited to tell me about his part because he had a decent size role. The only problem is, I already knew about before he did, because I was eves dropping where the directors were having a meeting. They were as well as my friend and planned this for 3 hours.
Then fat-ass Steven walked in the set, 2-3 hours late as usual. It was a scene at a hostess bar where there are 2 topless Russian swimmers swimming in the aquarium. It was supposed to be a background, and Steven complained as usual. He complained because one of the Russian girls was kind of chunky. While this other Russian girl was excited to see her friend as a background in the aquarium, Steven started joking about how fat her friend was and she looked like a sumo wrestler. Not noticing her friend was standing right there when Steven said it, I wonder if Steven realized how fat he is. Do you know why he wears an overcoat all the time? He also wears an elevator shoes even though he is 6-4 (195cm). Steven has to do all that, because he has to cover that big stomach of his. I admit that I am also fat, but this guy weighed twice as much as I do. I thought to myself, “Wow, what an asshole!”
By the way, do you know why Steven Seagal always arrives 2 hours late at the set? Well, this guy is too busy playing with his 6 prostitutes he bought from Thailand. Looking at these prostitutes he bought, I found out he got ripped off. I met one of the guys who bought these prostitutes for Seagal and when they told me how much they spend, I was thinking to myself, “Wow, they ripped him off pretty good!” Sometimes I wonder, does Steven wonder why nobody is watching his movies. Well, that’s another story.
Going back to my friend, he was all ready rehearsing with Steven’s body double (Because Steven is busy playing with his 6 prostitutes), they were actually rehearsing for more than an hour. By the time Steven walked in the set after banging his prostitutes, he made his complaints about the chunky Russian girl. Then he made complaints about my friend. He started complaining, “Why is he in the set? Can he act?” He treated my friend as if he is some sort of retard. From what I see, my friend is a much better actor than Steven Seagal and his wanna be Clint Eastwood impersonation. Not only Steven can’t act, but he also can’t direct either. He basically yanked my friend out of the scene and replaces him with one of the 6 Thai prostitutes he had. Here was the other problem; this Thai prostitute did not want to act. Nor can she speak any English or Japanese. Then this Thai translator instructed her what to do, because this girl can’t act at all. She keeps messing up and this one scene took 6 to 7 takes. She didn’t want to be in this movie, because she’s only paid to sexually entertain Steven. The producers tried to convince Steven to have my friend in the scene, but Steven the asshole demanded to replace him with a prostitute. No, I am not calling this girl any names, because she is a real prostitute. I felt sorry for the producers, I think the movie “S1M0NE” was talking about Steven Seagal, played by Winona Ryder and Al Pacino played the director. I really felt sorry for the guy putting up with Seagal’s crap.
There was supposed to be a fashion scene at the hostess bar, but Seagal didn’t like it. He complained, as usual about the dress the girls were wearing. Then he began using his thumb to rub their nipples. My god, I guess the 6 prostitutes weren’t enough for him.
I never saw other actors behave as bad as Steven Seagal. I’m pretty sure they do exist, but it’s really hard to imagine. Sometimes I wonder if Steven Seagal realizes why nobody watches his trashy movies?? One reason is there are far better action stars than Steven Seagal. I can already name 2 (Jackie Chan, and Jet Li). The other would probably be the fact that Steven looks more like Santa Claus than an action star. With that big gut of his, maybe he should star in a Santa Claus movie with that stupid ponytail. Maybe it’s time for him to change his appearance. That stupid ponytail has been around forever.
