Hey, Kath..
Do let us know how it turns out. I think almonds or cashews would probably work really good...It sounds like a yummy spread...:D Some garlic, or pimento might be good in it...

Yummy, I do love chocolate and milk, and ice cream, however I know it's probably not that healthy fat content, wise...Oh well! I guess a cow doesn't cry out when you milk her, so I think of her milk as a gift, although I really do prefer the organic milk so I know that she has not been abused by being overcrowed and unhappy and also that she has not been fed those yucky hormones that aren't good for her or me!

I visited a dairy a couple years back & seen the enclosures that they use & heard about how they handle the animals..example of why PETA steps in.

Word is that Steven Seagal is a vegetarian, so how come that Vanity Fair article of some time ago, claims that he eats "plates of fruit and meat?" I know some people can't deal with a plant based diet, and I think some said that he eats whatever he likes...Silly question, but who's right, and who's wrong? Anyone know? Not that I am nosey, or that it really even matters at all, just being curious....:)

I don't doubt that at all Amos...Just goes to show the magazines can have a whole host of different, and likely innacurate information in them...Whenever I meet him I will find out, nothing like asking politely...:D

It is said we are what we eat ... that the atoms and molecules of whatever we eat compose our bodies. Certain foods vibrate at higher levels than others, some are what are called "gross", meaning heavy. Then again, there are human beings who simply extract the Essence of Life from the air they breathe.

Mostly Vegetarian.

I'm mostly vegetarian except I eat moose, caribou, and salmon given to me as gifts by native hunters who take the meat with essential respect for the animal.

Lotussan, I am just like you. I only eat poultry and fish - no red meat. Dairy is OK. But I am considering taking out poultry.

I eat a strange diet, that I actually heard about (see below) from Steven Seagal's friend Dr. Gary Young*. It is: Protein in the morning, carbs in the afternoon, and only veggies and fruit for dinner. This doctor claims that we don't secrete HCL and pepcin after 2:00 in the afternoon. Therefore, eating protein at dinner is really bad and it stays undigested in our bodies until the next day.

*Dr. Gary Young: Years ago when I was on one of the Steven Seagal message boards, this guy offered to send me a VCR tape of The Patriot and something on the Steven Seagal health food line of products. (His goal was to get me to become a distributor, which I knew I didn't want to do, but I wanted the tape!) I was game (I think I had to mail him like $5 to cover his costs), and he did indeed send me this tape. On this tape is Steven Seagal giving a non-scripted presentation to his "Young Oil" line distributors in Utah. His talk was on why he wanted to develop this protein shake, and how he was able to achieve it through Dr. Gary Young's scientific research/company. SS is probably talking for about 10 minutes or so -- I am so glad that I got this tape from this guy! Anyway, Dr. Gary Young then got up on the stage and talked all about the product line, and he mentioned this "diet". I like it, and have stuck with it.

Can someone tell me if all Buddists are vegetarians? Is it a prescribed "teaching" within Buddism?

(sorry if that is a stupid question)

Hi Charak,
Thanks for the info...I would like to see the tape, myself...I may have go back to red meat if I go on the Atkins diet, I dunno...Not all Buddhists are vegetarians no, most monks are I think...Even HH the dalai lama eats meat I think, for health reasons...I even heard that Steven eats meat, that was insinuated in the Vanity Fair article...Who knows for sure, I only hope he doesn't mind dairy, because I gotta have my ice cream...I can't have a husband who doesn't like dairy! Just kidding, I would do anything for that man, and take him just as he is...:)
