Ever bought anything autographed by SS?

I have been exploring and see there are many items at E-Bay that are "autographed" by Mr. Seagal, such as pictures, etc. I wondered if any of you have ever purchased something like this or if they are "legit" signatures. If you did buy something, were you happy with it?

"Still lots to learn."

I would'nt buy autographed material off of ebay unless the item is backed with a certificate of authenticity from a legit company. Dont take any sellers word for it unless you know them personally..I buy a lot of things off of ebay but stay away from the autographed items.

Thanks, Naussa Mike, for the tip. How do you know who is a "legit company", anyway? I think I'll follow your advice and stay away from the autographed items, since I don't know anything about them or the vendors.

Yes, if I got it from him, it might be nice, because then a little feeling would go into it, you know...
Otherwise, there's no meaning to even having it really...
And yes, I am sure there are lots of fake ones running around...

I agree with Mike - there are too many unscrupulous sellers on ebay who won't think twice about selling a copied signature in order to make a few quid. Stay away from them.

Excellant advice, Mike and G-Man!
The "money hungry" jerks are all over
the place!

You're right, Mama san, about the "money-hungry jerks". Thanks, Mike and G-Man, for the advice. You were right, G-Man, about the copied signatures. I looked at a few more last night and in the small print on one photo it said "excellent copy" of original signature. Let the buyer beware, eh?!

People will bid for anything on EBay. I know someone who sold a 2£ cd for 40£ with a high bid! You could sign a napkin with "Jesus" and someone would bid for it.

I'm on there a lot too, but mostly for cosmetics, not fake memorabilia stuff...
You just never know what your going to receive...

Hi Serena

I purchased a movie still with Steven Seagal's autograph on it, and after comparing it with his real signature I am pretty sure it is real. However, there are alot of people selling on ebay that are not trustworthy, so my advice would be don't take the risk. However, if you aren't worried about the money, then purchase an autograph that has an authenticity certificate.

Regards

Nash.

Who wants an autograph that was meant for someone else? It's not just about having a piece of this man, it's the fact that he would take the time to sign something for someone, that to me would make it very special...

Thanks, Nash. Thanks for your input. Hopefully you do have the real deal! Since I don't know where an authenticity certificate originates from or if that is even considered reliable, I think I'll follow everyone's advice and stay away from an autographed item.

Besides, Lotus has a good point. Except for investment purposes, the main reason for an autograph would be the personal sentiment behind it. And let's be honest. As crazy as I am about the man, I don't think something with his signature will be worth anything in my lifetime.

Certificates of authenticity are only as good as the seller behind it. They can be faked just like a signature..
I used to buy autographed sports memorabilia but I knew who the real reliable sellers were and i never bought from anyone that was not internationally recognized..I'm not too familiar with who might be the best companies to buy autographed movie memorabilia from..But to repeat; anyone can make up a certificate of authenticity. Its only as good as the company behind it..

Thanks, Mike. That precisely answers my question and has helped me make the final decision to stay away from those items.
