In his presant state of mind it is very unlikely he would respond anyway. I can only draw from what I know of other artistes, and in truth, their staff do not pass on the mail. Most of the well run offices, and I can only quote from a few, either pass on all the mail to a fan club base, or bin it. Logisticly, it costs a fortune to deal with, requiring a full time person, plus stationary and postage. Most rely on their fan clubs giving them access to information and allowing it to be passed on to fans. Very occasionally something gets through, but it has to be realllllly exceptional to get as far as the artiste, and more so for him to take a personal interest. Usually when a fan gets through, it is because they have popped up everywhere and gradually built up a nodding relationship (like a Japanese girl who visits Elton Johns house every year and camps outside) Or, more often, they know someone who knows someone who brings their story to the attention of the artiste. Now we are well into the age of web sites, some do visit there fan bases quite regularly, but I have no knowledge of any of them joining in. Those who participate more, and take an interest in their fans are those surrounded by good quality management and friends who guide and advise only to place their person in a good light. (Richard Gere, Tom Hanks, Eric Clapton being good examples) Sadly, Steven seems to be surrounded by hangers on and people without the finesse to realise just how important it is not only to be supportive to the fan base, but to be respected by a wide audience as well.
