Mason your instructor should know what to tell you to do. If not then find a trainer of gymnastics or dance near you. ( If your instructor or teacher cannot help you with this , then I would find another teacher ).

Yes, your instructor would be your best source of aid.

I think that MasonStorm just wants a head start ... beginning white belts are very rarely stretched well enough.

O.K. this may not be the best advice, but here's how a friend of mine could do splits at the age of 8. LOL He really did not want to be able to do that ... his parents insisted he take karate lessons and wanted him to progress fast. So, he got very motivated and slowly started doing various leg stretching exercises, but then he was sweating so much that upon trying to do a split, he slipped and that was when he accomplished his first split ... ouch ... the bones got dislocated ... I remember how he thought he was paralyzed (it's not funny, but it kinda was for us when we were that young; not for him though ... but we had a few laughs after it was all done and over with) ... he healed and man you could have two people each holding each one of his legs in a split position just carry him around and he'd feel no pain and make it look effortlessly. It was very impressive, especially since he was only 8 years old. Even my very first wushu sifu was impressed with his capabilities.

You wanna try that? :D

LOL

Very easy, years of warming up and stretching every single day. The best way is do splits on chairs if you cant go all the way stand up and slide down as far as you can and make sure u feel it is hurting because thats when it is stretchinh. ;)

Good stretch there littledragon! Reminds me of a Van Damme film :)
Mason - just keep gently stretching (don't overdo). If you can get a good sports massage it helps to loosen up the muscles and tendons and joints. Also, you can put one leg up on the kitchen counter while washing dishes or preparing food ... just don't put your foot in the salad :) Alternate with each leg and gently stretch. Remember to warm up first and also cool down so the muscles are nice and warm. Think of muscles as rubber bands - they will stretch nicely but don't over-stretch.
