Is there a transcript or online script for Above the Law?

I don't have the DVD on me right now and I wanted to check the exact words that Seagal says in certain scenes in Above the Law... is there any transcript or script online?

I don't know about a script, but I'm in the middle of watching Above the Law right now, so if you tell me the scene(s), I'll transcribe the dialogue for you. (My headache is finally starting to fade, and I can almost enjoy life again).

well there's two scenes I was after, the first is when he's talking to his buddy about how the agency has "wiped out entire cultures" or something and then ends it with the famous "You guys think you're above the law" lines.

the other one was near the end when he's talking to the journalists etc and he's spilling the beans (I think the scene ends with him saying something like "Whenever you have a group of people who are above the law..."

thanks for any input...

Okay, Disciple, here they are:

Scene: Nelson Fox and Nico enter the parking garage.

Nico's speech: "You know something, Fox - right now in Europe they're trying some 80-year-old camp guard for Nazi war crimes, and all around our country they got guys on death row for murdering one, two, three guys... and they probably deserve what they're gonna get. But you and I, we know a couple of people that are personally responsible for the dealths of what, 50,000 non-military personnel - librarians, teachers, doctors, women, children - all dead. We've wiped out entire cultures, and for what? Not one CIA agent has ever been tried, much less accused of any crimes. You guys think you're above the law - well, you ain't above mine."

Nico's last speech, to the judge, and later, to the Committee (assumed): "In 1973, I worked for a special operations group in Vietnam and Cambodia. I was involved with gathering intelligence. All the members of this team were doctors recruited by the CIA and trained at a secret camp in Langley, Virginia.

"Gentlemen: whenever you have a group of individuals who are beyond any investigation, who can manipulate the press, the judges, members of our congress, you're always going to have within our government those who are above the law."

Are these the ones you were after?

That's perfect, thanks a million!

I actually needed to quote/reference those scenes, so this is just great.

Glad to hear you're feeling better TD! For a minute there i thought you qouted all that from memory!

Memory? I quoted? What????

:) :) :) :)

No, it took about 10 or so "rewinds" (what do you call "rewinding" on a DVD, anyhow? New tech needs new terminology, I just can't keep up with it any more!). I was really surprised how poor my short term memory was, though - I used to do dicta-typing, and was quite good at getting a lot of "line" in one go.

What we were talking about?

;) ;) ;)

Actually, I think it was because I still had 3/4 of a blinding headache that I didn't do better.

Still have the headache today - that's five days now. Arrggghhh.

how is the job situation going TD? (if you don't mind me asking)

No, I don't mind - but I sent it PM so to keep this thread on topic (more or less!).

Well we could help your headache with a nice soft tap with a rubber mallet? If it doesn't help I'm sure you would be hurting too much to notice! hee hee

Trust me, when I've got one of those skull-busting headaches, I wouldn't even notice.

Arm-wrestling this thread relentlessly back on topic (more or less), I've suddenly realised that the first one (above), the one in the parking garage is, I think, about the longest on-screen speech I've heard him make.

Or not?

Doesn't the speech from On Deadly Ground count?

TD, don't you get meds for that? I have also heard accupressure works well...Hope it gets better soon...

Thanks, Lotus. It's finally gone away, and I'm feeling almost human again.

As for meds, nothing works, except immitrex, and that's way too expensive (I'm self-employed, have no drug plan). Fiornal also works, but I get a weird side effect from it, and besides, it's addictive, and my doctor (the one I had at the time) preferred I didn't take anything that was addictive.

So I get these headaches. Mostly because of the weather. Hurricane season in the south means lots of headaches for me in the north.

Stupid hurricanes.

I'd forgotten about that. I try not to count On Deadly Ground for anything... it's my next to least favourite film, so it tends to slip out of my conscious recollection.

Okay, the Above the Law speech isn't the longest one. But at least it's relevant to the story, at the point of the story in which it appears.
