According to Kasey’s Van Damme Page, Jean Claude Van Damme’s latest movie “After Death” has been put on hold because the financer didn’t come up with the cheque in time. "The guy (the financier) had a nervous breakdown and was taken to a hospital in London," a top Hollywood source said. "And the Jean Claude Van Damme movie and a few other movies he was working on just got put on hold." Other sources say it’s been delayed because it’s near $5 million dollars over budget. "The money wasn't sent over," said the source. "And it is simply impossible to start without it." Van Damme headed back to L.A, where he was told to sit tight for five weeks, in which time they should be able to rustle up some money to film the thing. Already there’s talk that Director Ringo Lam might have been fired though. It’s a quicker way down that it is up hey?

That sucks, poor old Jean coming over and all! Mind you, one or two of his movies would give me a breakdown. Still, he's made a good few good ones too.

yeah i have quite a few van damme vids in my collection and i was real surprised by Replicant his acting is sure improved since bloodsport.

The producer having a nervous breakdown story was bogus. One of the producers contacted Dark Horizons and said that the delay was over a dispute between director Ringo Lam and the producers. Lam has since left the project which now has a new director (don't know who) with shooting to take place in South Africa instead on Montreal. Although Van Damme and Lam are good friends there was no way Van Damme could have backed out of filming because he would have had to pay the budget of the film for that to happen and I doubt any actor would want to pay $20 milion.
