Please Don't Jump to Conclusions
Hi:
Some may remember I worked for Mr. Seagal in Thailand during Belly of the Beats filming last year.
I don't know whether the story cited here about failure to pay lawyers is true or correct. I have no information on that subject. All I can say is Mr. Seagal and his associate Jimmy Moy paid Tilleke & Gibbins an upfront advance and paid our bills within thirty days, and the amount was substantial. I personally would have doubts about any claim that Mr. Seagal is in financial difficulty or is somehow a deadbeat. From my experience, neither claim would be remotely true. I don't want to speculate on the reason for the non-payment, if the story is true, but as a lawyer, I can tell you that there are many reasons why a client would not pay a lawyer, most of which are legitimate.
Also, I can share with you some exciting news, Steven is now in Tokyo and will be returning to Thailand April 10th or thereabouts to shoot "Into the Sun" formerly known as Yakuza, beginning April 13. Into the Sun is in pre-production here and Time Out will be handling Steven for this shoot. A man named Hildebrand is one of the producers and will also be accompanying Steven. He will stay as he usually does at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit on the 30th Floor. I believe the shoot will run some 40 days and end in mid May. I am not divulging any confidences here as it is publicly available information. The entire Thai film industry is excited and thrilled that he is returning. This is also good news for Thailand as Oliver Stone just wrapped Alexander the Great (I handled the work for the copyright recordation of the original score) and earlier Bridget Jones II was completed here as well. I hope this typoe of success continues. There are a lot of challenges to filming and producing here but I believe the obstacles are surmountable (with the right legal assistance
)
I have seen Steven a few weeks ago and he looks fit and healthy. Since I handle IP works, I am not involved in the commercial contracts involved in the Thai shoot, I usually get called in only if there is a problem. If I hear anything that I can ethically report, I will keep you posted.
I have to say, I am so happy I found this site a few months ago. I think there is a wonderful sense of community and support for someone who I know to be quite a special person. I have never asked Steven if he reads the content of this site, but if I get some "face time" with him this time around I will be sure to let him know about it.
Best to all,
Ed

You know, call me silly but this could just be yet another way to make him look bad...
After all, I said it before and I'll say it again, they want money...For all we know, they could have been paid by someone to say such things, we can't be sure...Another thing is that if one is uhhappy with services rendered, then one shouldn't have to pay, maybe Steven isn't at all happy with these guys...That's his business and no-one should be making a public shit fest about it...It's disgusting that every little thing in his life, gets thrown into the public eye...Don't worry baby, I believe in you! I love you, Steven!
