Movie idea for Seagal

I always thought a semi-autobiographical movie about Steven's time in Japan would be great. It could tell the story about how Steven was the first white man to open a dojo there, and how he got harrassed by Yakuza (?).

It would be an ideal setting to display Steven's aikido, and there could be plenty of MA action and sword work. There could also be plenty of Japanese culture and society included in the film, which would be awesome, since I love Japan.

It would be a refreshing change of pace from the cop/CIA/special forces plots he usually does, as well.

Interesting idea, Shawn! :)

Would you have someone else portray the younger Steven, as they often do in these types of movies?
If so, which actor out there today would be the best choice?
Suggestions, anyone?

Great Idea!

Although "Path Beyond Thought" was Steven Seagal's documentary, it mainly featured his students. The clip in the intro to "Above The Law" is continued in 'PBT.'

That would be a fantastic idea and I bet it would do great at the box office. Man If Seagal did a movie about that I'd think it was his best movie of all time.

He wouldn't have to play himself. He could have a different name, and make other changes to protect his privacy.

The core story of opening a dojo in Japan and fighting gangsters is what's important.

The real reason he wouldn't do a film like that because he's been there, done that, and wouldn't want to do it again.

I don't know you if you've noticed, but in the last couple of films he's done, he has done little or no aikido at all (in the scenes where he does actually do the work himself, which, with each film, get fewer and fewer). I think he's tired of it. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned his back on aikido altogether. It isn't who he is any more.

The "real" reason????
Did you get that from him, or are you speculating like everyone else?

Speculations? ... I think it's those assumptions.

For Steven Seagal to turn his back on Aikido is like for Pope to turn his back to God.

So we should be seeing some seminar info sometime
in the future as well as some nice fresh pics...

Let's see: let's suppose the so-called "official" site is really official. Why isn't there an aikido section, if he's still involved in doing aikido? At last year's seminar in Poland, he was looking supremely bored at the whole experience, completely disinterested, obviously wishing he were someplace else. This year, he was supposed to have had a testing at his house in May. We've heard nothing about that. There was also supposed to be a seminar he was going to in Florida. There's been nothing about that either.

He's been doing less and less martial arts in his films (I don't count his stunt doubles doing the work for him as "his" martial arts).

So, again, I reiterate: if this really is the official site, why isn't there an aikido section? Answer: he's not involved in it any more.

Sure, it's speculation. But it's an easy conclusion to draw, given the evidence. And the evidence suggests Steven is more interested in making money selling his products than teaching aikido.

(I bet the guy that's doing the so-called official site reads this site, so you can bet over the next couple of days, suddenly we'll see an aikido section pop up.)

I think Seagal should star in the movie The Star Kings based on the book by Edmond Hamilton.George Lucas would direct it and it would become as big a hit as the Star Wars.
Seagal could play a cynical villain there. He would fit that role fine. And the role would fit him too.Just imagine him rocking the stars!
