The Legend of Johnny Jones
Director: Matt Clark
Cast: Steven Seagal, Danny Trejo, Kevin Sorbo, Icaac Singleton Jr, Tom Arnold

Hi everyone, I have a lot of new info to share about this project. I 've had a long conversation with the director Matt Clark.
I asked him to share some info and it was no problem. So here are some things about the project. Here are some bits and pieces of our chat:

Alot of people don't realize this about The Legend of Johnny Jones but it is being distributed worldwide by UNIVERSAL and is a Tier 1 project. The release date is October 2nd 2021 to give time for the pandemic to ease so the theaters are open again. It would bring Steven Seagal back to the big screen and we are not using actors in a stereotypical way or how the audience is used to seeing them. This film is written on a deep level and pushes everyone's acting abilities.

Only the people involved that have read the script know what's in store. It was written to surprise everyone and it is part of a new universe of films. There are three franchises. Johnny Jones which is horror, action, thriller. Detour 95 which is gritty, slow burn, psychological thriller And The Street Avenger which is fast paced action. Each franchise has 3 films and an epic crossover where all the franchises collide in a way that makes sense.

The character we want Steven Seagal for starts in The Legend of Johnny Jones and then crosses over into the Street Avenger franchise where we guarantee to keep people on the edge of their seats. We shoot with all Red cameras and WILL NOT turn out anything cheesy. Everything has to make sense, be believable and blow the audiences mind. We want to make films that outlive us.

They are being shot in order the Legend of Johnny Jones then Detour 95 and then The Street Avenger.

They can be watched as separate films but when you see them all together people will be like OH HELL YEAH.

Actually JCVD was attached but then Covid happened and everyone's schedules got rearranged. But the role of Detective Cutchin is a man that has been in law enforcement for years and he has seen it all. He works in the most dangerous parts of Jersey but he has a report with the people there. He is calm, and cool but can demolish you if he has too. The distribution company is the one that went after JCVD. I wanted Seagal because of his years of actual law enforcement. He is that cool, calm and collected bad ass. And I wanted that authenticity. So when schedules got pushed and JCVD was out I told the distribution that the stars have aligned to give me a chance to get the star that I saw in the part.

And that is what we wanted. We wanted his acting ability and to change peoples view of him and show all of his talent. If he joins the universe of films then in The Street Avenger you would find him questioning his beliefs of a straight arrow cop, and becoming a mentor to a young female vigilante. It is a film where you would find him and her caught between two rival gangs, the police and corrupt politicians

Johnny Jones has a budget of 3.5 million but we own all of our own RED cameras and equipment and do things in house. So we cut a lot of cost and can make it look like a 20 million dollar film.

Our fingers at Angry Troll Studios are crossed awaiting an answer from him.......

Fine... Then don't believe me. I am just telling you guys what the producer told me. I think I'll stop posting updates regarding this project if this is the way my updates get treated.... No offense
Updates don't really count for much if we have to fill in the blanks ourselves.

And if a 3.5 mill project can be made to look like a 20 mill project, then why would any production ever bother spending 20 mill?

Danny Trejo is in everything - would be more surprised if he wasn't in it.

Would is it then? Spielberg or Cameron?

Or maybe a certain guy who did a trio of lacklustre remakes...

Fill in the blanks yourselves? I gave many updates in the last few years where you did not have to fill in the blanks. But as I said, if you don't want updates or if they are not good enough for you (like in this case) then I will stop sharing.

By the way , It seems that producer Matt Clark is sharing the name of the director with other people as well. Forrest Taft seems to already know who it is and so is Gabe3407. So I as well can share his name.

The director who will probably direct The Legend of Johnny Jones is:

Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday The 13th, Conan the Barbarian).

Didn't take much working out from the dates.

Would be surprised if even he was involved, but then the tired remake of Conan did bomb so maybe times are tough.

As much as I'd love to see Seagal on the big screen again (my last experience being Machete) I'll happily eat my hat if this ends up in more than ten theatres.

Please don't stop with the updates. I think most here really apreciate them and they are very interesting.

The director update is indeed promising. Hopefully it will work out.

Also, is it correct that Seagal should be the main actor in this movie?

We get better updates from you on Seagal than from the media or any company Seagal is working with so please don’t ever stop

I have just been told that Seagal is the lead character.
i guessed it was marcus nispel when you said the dates but i was not sure he woluld do it however his last film was 2015 so maybe

he had 4 big movies texas chainsaw, friday 13th,pathfinder and conan so hes used to big budgets so see how he does with 3-4m budget

also remember that some of the blumhouse films are like 5m only so it can be done

keep the updates and is nispel still the director?

also id the imdb cast the same or with nispel directing can they get a better cast?

i noticed stephen lang(fire down below) worked with nispel twice and also seagal twice he would be a decent actor to get on this

That's all I know for now. Let's hope the shooting can start in february and that it doesn't get delayed due to Covid or other things
