Steven Seagal gets the Chop
Posted on Wed, 12-May-2004

Steven Seagal’s been everywhere but the U.S Making movies of late (the president helped pack his bags apparently), more recently, perched in the Philippines.

Seagal’s been there flying the flag for potential President Fernando Poe, the local version of John Wayne, as well as scout locations for a new flick.

Meanwhile, the pony-tailed avenger has been censored in Korea. The Korea Times reports, “An upcoming local film with Hollywood action star Steven Seagal will be reduced by eight minutes in an attempt for a lower rating. “Clementine”, starring South Korean action star Lee Dong-jun, actress Kim Hye-ri and Seagal, received an ‘18-and-over’ rating last month from the media ratings board. The filmmakers then cut or rerecorded eight minutes of the film that the board found objectionable, which mostly had to do with crude and sexual language, and was able to get a ‘15-and-over’ rating last week. The film was reduced to 100 minutes from 108 minutes and many scenes with comedian Kim Yong were taken out, according to Pulse Star, the company behind the film. Clementine” stars Lee as a martial arts expert who, after unfairly losing a taekwondo championship match to Seagal seven years ago, is forced to do so again after his daughter is kidnapped.”

Not sure where, but I've seen it here before.

I think it's been posted somewhere before, about the cutting of Clementine.

The title says: SS gets the chop...

It's ok dog ... but according to the title, it would only make sense that the article talked about Clementine (the Korean film) that's to be cut ... unfortunate for Seagal.

Some might have missed it, so I guess it's a good reminder of the troubles SS has to put up with after committing to so much work.

This kind of information isnt something that could be falsified, but as far as the other articles on the site, I dont know

It'll be hard to determine the success of this movie, but I wonder if the cuts that were made will hurt or help the box office return.

LOL I missed the part about the comedian in the article ... skimmed over it too quickly I guess. :=)

It's a shame...Now I wonder what part of Steven's will be missing...And it's not likely we'll ever see the uncut parts unless there is a US release...Maybe if he really is going to seoul, he can get that to happen, who knows...I hope he likes galrlic and chilies, LOL...:D

The Moviehole site is very reliable. The guy that runs it grew up in the same place I did and I've spoken to him quite a few times. He's cool, and admitted to being a Seagal fan from the old days...but I know he doesn't like his last few films.

Anyways,
I just don't get why not liking a Steven Seagal's film would have to mean that that person is not a fan of Steven Seagal himself.
