Out for Money?

Hi guys, well I see many of you posting some sites about Steven Seagal's futures productions. Well here is one. Remember Yakuza was one of his future movies? Well know they are calling it "Into The Sun", with a much larger budget than the last few of his movies:
http://www.geocities.com/theactionkingsi/ActionKings-Seagal-TheYakuza.html

About Belly of the Beast: I live in Canada, and it is making me mad, because all the major stores (i.e. Best Buy and Future Shop) do not have it, although the release date was a few days ago for this region. Here's what set me over the top: when I asked when the DVD was expected to arrive, they didn't know anything about it - the movie was not on the shipping list.
If there are any Canadians here (preferrably from the Toronto area) could you please tell me if you have found any place that sells Belly of the Beast.
This made me theorize a little bit. You know that fiasco about the mad cow disease and all the arguing between the US/Canada border. I heard that they are putting the trading thing on halt for some of the businesses and slowing down others (especially with the booming Canadian dollar). So it brought me to this point: that the movie industry, especially the shipment of Steven Seagal's movies has gone sideways. It's just a theory, but I think us Canadians are getting sc.rewed (pardon my 'French').

Oh, and one more thing. You all have noticed about the extra weight that the great aikidoka gained in the last few years. Well I don't judge nor am I saying that it's bad or whatever. All I want to say is that being overweight does not improve your health (it's UNhealthy, and you cannot argue that). This might not affect mr. Seagal (I think we should call him Dr. for his great knowledge and mastery) because of his active life style, but I have another theory about the reason. It might be a bit off tangent, but bear with me:

It was reported awhile back, that one of the law suits against Steven Seagal was on his breach of contract to make 4 movies. Seagal lost the case and was practically made to finish the project. In my opinion here, I do not thing that Steven Seagal likes being told and then forced to do something he does not want to do. So here it is: I think that the latest movies (bear in mind I have not watched Belly of the Beast yet so...) are close to the Seagal quality as they once were (before Half Past Dead) just because of the court's ruling. Mr. Seagal probably didn't want to give it his all best, and the stress over all the law suits (the stalking, frauds against Steven, money extortion, threats, need I say more?) took their toll even on the master. And since his latest few movies were not such great successes, Seagal might be a bit desparate (if that's the right word) to make more movies (hence "Out for Money?"). And whatever anyone might say that 'having a co-worker/co-actor being a rap star makes the movie bad' is wrong in every sense. DMX has proven to have done quite decent acting in Exit Wounds, and Ja Rule added that humour side to Half Past Dead along with Kurrupt (who I found just found hilarious since one of my friends acts just like Korrupts character).

So there it is, my yet another theory. Like it or hate it, frankly I don't give a ... (no offense but that's my view and I hope to know what you guys think about some of these topics).

It does sound weird he's suddenly making all these films. I mean what's the count:

Out of Reach
Submerged
Unleashed
Glory
Into the Sun

He's made one of these films in 2003 and is scheduled to make the rest in 2004.
Some of these films might not get made but it is strange. Growing up I can remember when Seagal had a film out every year, and once he had two films out real close (Marked for Death and Out for Justice) but nothing like this. I've said before the frequency of these films does bother me but for a different reasons. How can one man keep going, globe trotting to different places, making all these films? He must be incredibly fit or need the money. Hopefully he's not sacrificing health and family for the money.

Hey!

Well I just rented the movie today, and I am from Toronto. They should have it for sale in a month or two. What I love about Blockbuster in "Previously Viewed Movies". I mean when Belly of the Beast arrives on DVD is will probably cost around 25.00, but you can buy it for 15 with one or two scratches.

Yes, I mean the female fans on this MB do not care about the extra weight, but us male fans have obviously noticed it. It’s quite distracting, and it is in fact unhealthy. This weight gain tells me that he has given up on live, and just let himself go. He doesn’t care about his appearance anymore. But he does have the capabilities to drop the weight, and he has a bit with Belly of the Beast. It’s probably because there’s an Asian director involved. Asian directors have certain expectations, and I think Steven Seagal is trying to meet them. He has three more upcoming movies with Asian directors, so maybe by the time he is finished with them he will loose most of the weight.

I wasn't really saying that he let himself go (but some times it is distracting).
Anyways the DVD thing is strange, because Out For a Kill came out for sale before you could rent it. I don't know what's going on. I think it's the Bushism/Martinism that's doing it.

I'm in Toronto, and I order my films from Barnes & Noble in the United States. They take a while to come - mine shipped (supposedly) on December 30th, and it's now the 23rd and still no sign of it. I suspect it gets held up at Customs. Heck, my Path Beyond Thought tape shipped September 27th, and it apparently sat in Canada Customs until December (whereupon I also got the replacement tape which I now have to return, but that's another story).

I don't know how much cross-border commercial endeavours are being affected by the current cool atmosphere between Canada and the U.S., but it is certainly a possibility. When I started purchasing my Seagal DVDs from Barnes & Noble last year, they took about 3 weeks to come. Out for a Kill vanished, and I had to reorder, but I didn't think that had anything to do with cross-border commercial issues.

I think Blockbuster and other video stores here in Canada simply do not stock straight-to-video releases, or at least, not in some genres. I was also in Rogers the other day and they only have a three, maybe four of Steven's titles, and nothing after Exit Wounds at all. There's simply no market for it. If it doesn't get rented, it gets taken off the shelf, and certainly they are not going to stock it for sale.

It does take longer, but so far I have been satisfied with getting my DVDs from Barnes & Noble. They do have good customer service insofar as they did replace my lost OFAK DVD (although after seeing it, I wish it had stayed lost). I haven't tried Amazon.ca as a source, yet. I'll have to have a look and see if they're offering it, and at what price.

Hang in there. You'll find a copy eventually!

Okay. I just checked Amazon.ca, and they have Belly of the Beast for $29.11 Cdn. It ships in 10-11 days. Of course, it's too late for me to stop the order from B&N, now, but at least you, Yudansha, can get it (probably before I will!).

Hope this helps.

I Belong To Steven
Sigh, not this topic, again...
Fact is maybe he really needs the money, maybe his entourage, and all the travelling and his family and the upkeep of his lifestyle are increasingly expensive...
I have no idea but I am sure having 6 children is very costly...
Maybe now he needs to make these movies, and maybe he is not at all happy doing it, but feels he has to...
As far as the weight change, maybe he has just become less active physically like someone said, because he is much more into his spiritual side, lots more meditation now, and less aikido...
That might have something major to do with it...
Maybe he doesn't even feel well, I am sure that is possible, my weight has brought on mental and physical fatigue, and depression, which is totally unmotivating, it is in fact, a vicious cycle...
I do deeply understand these things because I have experienced them firsthand...
However his wonderful inspiration has brought me to the point where I now do want to change myself...
Isn't that something? :)
I think it is...
I would do anything I could to help him too, of course I am not saying he needs my help at all, I am sure he doesn't, I am sure he has a great support system...
Iam sure that he doesn't need my help, but I am still so willing to give it...
I want to be here to support and love him, and I do...
I think he is likely satisfied with himself, because he probably tried to let these external things drop away...
When one is on the dharma (buddhist) path one learns and comes to know that life is
indeed all about the spirit, and about ones actions, thoughts and deeds...
All I can say, is I love him as he is, and I think he is the most attractive man, ever...
I am in love with everything about this man...
It doesn't matter how much he weighs...
I think Steven is big and beautiful and exciting just like he is...
I adore him, he is sooooattractive, so tempting, so desirable, in my opinion...:)
Most of all, I know the weight doesn't really mean anything, the person inside is most important, and I feel that he is a beautiful spirit...
If he lost all the weight I would still love him endlessly, because real love is not all about weight or appearance...
If he doesn't like his weight or if it makes movie making difficult, then yes, I am sure he will do something about it...
But to be judged so shallowly often makes one stubborn, and even somewhat unwilling to change, for they may come to deeply resent what others (for example these male fans) want them/him to look like...
Maybe this is a form of self sabotage, or a just direct way to defy the external pressure to be thin, at least I think that for me it is/was...
Maybe Steven and I have that in common, somehow...
I hope Steven knows that outward appearances don't really make any difference,at least not to me, and that I wouldn't blame him if he just refuses to let people dictate what he should weigh...
I personally do not have any problem with him, in fact he makes me giddy, he is a thrill for me and I find him as attractive as ever, I am drawn to so many things about him, as I have stated many times before...
Yes, I like his big body, and I adore him, I just can't deny it...
Steven, you my love are handsome, amazing and beautiful, just the way you are!
But health is most important...It's not distracting to me at all, in fact I was atrracted to him as he bulked up, that's just my preference...I don't like skinny men...
Steven, if you are reading I want to tell you that, you my love are handsome, amazing and beautiful, just the way you are!
Big, powerful, sexy and excting...
You are all that baby, and more, and I want it all!
I want all of you, can you hear me? heeheehee...;)
I wouldn't ever want change you, darling...
I just want you as you are, and however you wish to be...
Big, thin, weight doesn't matter, I just love YOU soooooooo much...:)

Thanks TD but somehow I never got into internet shopping. No matter what anyone says about how safe it is with the new security measures, there are always those who find a way to hack. I'm not really paranoid with it, I mean I do buy my textbooks over the internet because I have to (plus a huge discount, especially when it's over a grand that I need to spend), it's just that there are stores for that sort of thing. But thanks anyways, and I am aware of places you mentioned. All I meant was if there were major stores (legit) in Toronto that sell movies, especially ones with Seagal. Oh and about Rogers not carrying Seagal's movies: come to Richmond Hill. Here, you can find almost all of his releases (Belly of the Beast should come soon). The only thing, I can't find Ticker anywhere. Nobody carries it for rent.

Well,if we folks really wanna see him fit and losing weight for the sake of his health then he shouldn't make Genghis Khan coz that's where it's been mentioned he has to put on weight...Weird thing, ain't it?
