Action star Steven Seagal also shows his chops with health food bar

Action-movie superstar Steven Seagal isn't just plastering his name on a product.

The Aikido black belt and veteran actor has come back from his travels in Asia with the goji berry, a staple in Tibet where local physicians use it in herbal medicines.

Seagal has brought the berry all the way back to Boca Raton, where he has offices under the umbrella of Steven Seagal Enterprises. The company will market and sell the 170-calorie Pure Force Energy Bar, the first in a line of nutritional products that Seagal will sell, with a photo of him on the package.

A spokeswoman for Seagal's company said the actor isn't just attaching his famous name and face to the package but actually took part in developing the nutritional bar.

"Absolutely. The goji berry is quite interesting," spokeswoman Kimberly Grustas said. "He had come in with these ingredients that he wanted in a bar. He is quite proud of his bar."

Wow thanks for the info Suzi!! With his face on it I will buy the bar without a doubt, one to eat and one as a collectors item lol.

Looks like Seagal is very busy this year.

I have an bad feeling when the health bars are released i wont be able to get any because iam way over here and Australia misses out on him coming here to film any movies so why should any of his products be sent out here....but if we did get them of course i will try it..iam always willing to try one thing once.....

Good question LittleD. I would think that would be difficult. They dont want Seagal to look out of shape on the package, because that doesnt say much for the nutrition of the supposed nutritious energy bar. Also, they know the fans arent stupid. It would be stupid to put a picture of Nico when everyone knows he hasnt looked like that in 20 years. It will be a tough call.

Personally, I dont know if it is a good idea to put his picture on the bar. Maybe just his name, to try and build up a market. Non Seagal fans (Seagal haters) probably wont want to buy the pair if his name overshadows the product.

Maybe Just :"Full Force" by Steven Seagal and possibly chinese letterings or another cool graphic in red on a black wrapper? That sounds cool to me.

Good point. As a Seagal fan I would like to see his face on the wrapper for a collectors item. :D
