Rush Hour 3 is a Go!

Chris Tucker, who has made only "Rush Hour" films since 1998, is expected to sign a two-picture, $40 million contract at New Line, reports Variety.

Tucker's signature, to be delivered after a meeting today with director Brett Ratner and screenwriter Jeff Nathanson, will put Rush Hour 3 on track for a late fall start in Los Angeles and Paris.

Tucker's involvement also activates a near-$20 million payday for Jackie Chan and a $7.5 million payday for director Ratner, adds the trade. It essentially greenlights a film that will cost around $100 million and will anchor New Line's 2006 summer.

Nathanson, who wrote Rush Hour 2 and just finished Indiana Jones 4, will begin writing the sequel script as soon as Tucker signs. Nathanson pitched his vision to all of the principals weeks ago.

Temujin later became Genghis Khan after he unified all Mongols. Director Stanley Tong is lobbying Jackie Chan to play Temujin and Chen Daomin from Hero is also mentioned as a candidate for the role. The cast also includes Chen Hao, Wang Gang, Chen Gangwu and several Shaolin monks and national martial-art champions. Shooting will begin in May or June on three grasslands of Yunnan Province."

Thanks, Suzi! :) It doesn't seem too likely this will happen, as the article is from March and says filming will begin in May. Right now, there's nothing else on the internet about this, so it doesn't seem likely, at least at the present time.

Besides, I can't picture Jackie Chan as Genghis Khan, as I always think of a large, husky, muscular man when I think of Genghis.

Now, who do we know who fits that image? ;) :D

I would have thought that Jackie is a little too short for the role.

But then again, Tom Cruise was a little too short to be a fighter pilot in the US Navy, but he was still in Top Gun.

Jackie Chan takes on ...

HONG KONG (AP) -- Jackie Chan battled copyright pirates, smashing fake designer watches with a hammer and using a chain saw to destroy a street-side stand hawking counterfeit bags and clothes.

The skit about Chan breaking up a counterfeit sales operation was organized by the International Trademark Association.

"It may be funny to watch our skit. But there's nothing funny about counterfeits," Chan said Thursday. He said piracy is seriously damaging the film industry in Hong Kong.

"Looking at the counterfeit problem, it really hurts," the 51-year-old action star said. "We used to make 300 movies a year here in Hong Kong. Now there are maybe 50 a year."

Chan, whose Hollywood movies include the "Rush Hour" films, used a flurry of karate chops against four assailants wearing Jackie Chan masks. He also cut a tie in half with scissors and ripped apart a pair of counterfeit shoes with his hands.

The trademark association said counterfeiting is an industry with a global market value of $500 billion. It produces goods ranging from baby formulas and DVDs to automotive and aviation parts.

About:Rush Hour-3

According to Variety, Chris Tucker just rejected the script penned by Jeff Nathanson, who also wrote the second Rush Hour. Jackie Chan has already said he did not like the series but he would do it again for his fans. If both leads are not happy about the project, just let it end now.

Movie man Bey's Chan in a million!!!

HE was once a Peterborough schoolboy with a fascination for judo
Peterborough Evening Telegraph, UK
21 June 2005

From an young age, Bey Logan fell in love with movies and would shout at anyone who got in his way of the television.
These days, the 44-year-old is a producer of martial arts films, working alongside the likes of of top action stars Jackie Chan and Steven Seagal.
And his life reads like one of the many movie scripts which drop onto his desk every day.

Bey said: "What I do now is a dream come true."
Bey was born in Stamford in 1961 and was adopted by Peterboroughcouple,
Maurice and Catherine Bulley when he was a baby.
As he was growing up at the family's home in Garton End Road, Dogsthorpe, he fell in love with movies.

Bey, whose family later moved to Thorpe Avenue, in the city centre, said: "I'd yell and scream if anyone got between the television and me.
"I studied judo at school, and later saw movies starring Bruce Lee at the city's ABC and Odeon cinemas."

Bey's path from Peterborough to film producer in Hong Kong has been no easy ride.
Initially, the father-of-three worked as a salesman for a windows company and then a kitchen firm, before becoming a journalist on martial arts and film magazines.

His big break came in 1995 when he relocated to Hong Kong, the centre of the action movie world.
He started work for a film-making company, before co-writing a number of
martial arts movies in which he also took minor parts.
Bey, whose job takes him all over the world, said: "It was an amazing experience to actually fight on camera, and have all those films watched back home. But after suffering various injuries I realised it was safer behind the camera.

"I feel like I am doing the work I was destined to – it's tremendously rewarding.
"I've got to work with my hero, Jackie Chan, during a film which which was shot in Ireland, which was a dream come true.
"There I was, standing in a field and I thought: 'Wow, I'm hanging out with Jackie Chan'."

Working alongside a Hollywood heavyweight

BEY Logan, the former Peterborough schoolboy, is now working alongside action movie star, Steven Seagal.
Bey is sharing producing duties with Segal on a martial arts film called Dragon Squad, which is currently being filmed in Hong Kong.

Bey has also recently co-written another film, Shadow Of The Sun, which Seagal hopes to star in.
Seagal, a martial arts expert, has
previously starred in Hollywood blockbusters, such Under Siege, Out For
Justice and Exit Wound.

Thanks for the interesting article, Suzi. :) Besides his background with co-writing for and acting in a few martial arts movies, hopefully Logan picked up a few good pointers while "hanging out" with Jackie Chan. :D

Nice to see another mention of Dragon Squad and Into the Sun mentioned in this new article. Thanks, Suzi. :)

Bey Logan does quite a few good DVD commentaries too. There is a large article about Dragon Squad in this month's Impact Action Movie Magazine. Unfortunately it only mentions Steven Seagal as producer, but it doesn't give any more details about his contribution. From the article it looks pretty good. :)

Am I missing something, Craig? (Very possible. :D) I couldn't find anything to click on for the article, and I even checked the different tabs at the top. Or is the article just not available online and they want you to buy the magazine? :D
