The Other Guys

I know this is the Seagal forum and Steve is the No.1 hombre, but I was curious if you guys ever watch any of Steven's contemporaries such as Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lungren and, I guess, Wesley Snipes whilst waiting for the new Seagal movie?

I watched Wesley Snipes' THE DETONATOR and found it very dull, but I also watched the Dolph Lundgren directed THE DEFENDER and, despite the fact Jerry Springer plays the US President(!), it's not a bad film.

I was thinking of picking up Van Damme's HARD CORPS because I've heard it's not bad.

So, come on, fess up -- do you watch the competition? :)

Hi there... Sure i watch other movies as well. I really loved Van Damme's Wake of Death as example. Lundgren's Mechanic was also really good, but i didn't like the actual Snipes movies... Now im really looking forward to the new seagal flicks :)

Disgruntled fan!
To be frank Wesley Snipes only has himself to blame for his career downturn. Someone of his acting ability shouldn't be doing crappy DTV films. He's notoriously difficult to work with, that is why a guy who has his ability can't get work with top directors now. He's basically got himself blacklisted from HW. He's even lost his big meal ticket, The Blade series, because of his behaviour. Those other guys, JC, Lundgren and the Sensei, don't have nearly the same acting talent as Snipes on his day. Of course if you watched him in his Dtv films there wouldn't seem that much of a difference, as he's very poor, bored, and lazy in them, but just watch Jungle Fever, White Men Can't Jump and New Jack City.

I enjoy watching all the action guys. Lundgren's doing the best at the moment, cuase he's taken control of his career having got fed up of starring in diabolical movies like Agent Red. Van Damme's last couple have been okay, but nothing great. Seagal just looks like he's given up the ghost, and seems quite happy to pursue his real passion, for music, which is fair enough really. I still hope that POP will be a good swansong. He seems to talk about it with real enthusiasm.
